Following the CR-V, the Japanese automaker will introduce another hybrid model in our country this year. One of the promising candidates for this position is HR-V, City, Civic, and Accord.
According to Koji Sugita – General Director of Honda Vietnam: “We are planning to introduce another HEV car model and some new large displacement models introduced at the EICMA exhibition will also be introduced to Vietnamese customers”.
The representative of Honda has not yet revealed the new hybrid car model to be launched in the near future. Currently, in the product range of the Japanese car manufacturer, there are 4 most promising names: HR-V, City, Civic, and Accord. Because in the Thai market, all 4 models already have hybrid versions (e:HEV).
Accordingly, Honda HR-V e:HEV in Thailand uses the e:HEV hybrid transmission system with two electric motors combined with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, lithium-ion battery. Total horsepower is 131 hp, maximum torque is 253 Nm. This engine is accompanied by a CVT gearbox. Honda HR-V e:HEV has three modes: EV (electric only), Hybrid (combined), and Engine (gasoline only). According to the manufacturer’s announcement, this model has an average fuel consumption of 25.6 km/liter (about 3.9 liters/100 km).
Next is Honda City e:HEV, this model uses a gasoline engine combined with an electric motor for a total output of 126 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque. It comes with a CVT automatic transmission. The addition of a hybrid engine helps this model have impressive city fuel consumption of 2.5L/100 km and 4.3L/100 km for highway.
As for the Honda Civic e:HEV, this sedan model is equipped with a 2.0L Atkinson Cycle 4-cylinder gasoline engine, direct fuel injection, and two electric motors located on the front axle. Among them, the electric motor of the Civic e:HEV has a power of 181 horsepower and a torque of 315 Nm at 0-2,000 rpm. The gasoline engine has a power of 141 horsepower and a torque of 189 Nm. The car uses a front-wheel-drive system and an E-CVT electronic continuously variable transmission. The fuel consumption of the car is 4 liters/100 km, which is extremely economical compared to the gasoline RS version with 6.3 liters/100 km.
Finally, the Honda Accord e:HEV, this model uses a 2.0L Atkinson Cycle 4-cylinder straight-line gasoline engine, with a maximum output of 146 horsepower and a maximum torque of 182 Nm. The gasoline engine functions as the main generator while the e-CVT transmission integrates an electric motor to charge the lithium-ion battery pack. This battery pack supplies power to a second electric motor with a strong power of 181 horsepower and 335 Nm. The gasoline engine can directly drive the wheels through a high-speed lockup mechanism. The total power that Honda Accord e:HEV possesses is 204 horsepower.
Therefore, in 2024 Honda will introduce two more hybrid car models in the Vietnamese market, including the CR-V e:HEV RS.
