After discontinuing production of the F8 supercar model with twin-turbo V8 engine, Ferrari has switched to using hybrid drivetrain. The Ferrari 296 is one of the models that applies hybrid technology. This is also the most powerful V6 engine supercar of the Italian horse brand up to the present time.

A Saigon tycoon recently spent more than 29 billion VND to buy the Ferrari 296 GTS (convertible version) – which is 6 billion higher than the starting price of 23 billion VND. After completing the rolling procedures, the owner of the car had to spend more than 31 billion VND. This is the second 296 convertible version in Vietnam, following the first one owned by a tycoon from Bac Lieu.

Different from the first 296 GTS with a bold red paint, this 296 has a blue paint called Blu Corsa. This paint color alone costs no less than 300 million VND in the manufacturer’s optional color chart. Blue is also quite rare on Ferrari cars in Vietnam, as there are only about 3 cars painted in this color up to now.

However, the car is not equipped with the Assetto Fiorano package like the Ferrari imported from temporary import-export in Vietnam. Nevertheless, the car owner still bought expensive equipment such as carbon fiber details, including front lip, side skirts, and rear diffuser.

The most expensive is the multi-spoke wheels set, using carbon material and measuring 20 inches. Hiding inside are black colored brake calipers and large ceramic-carbon brake discs. This option is the most expensive among the wheel options, costing more than 1 billion VND. This is also one of the two Ferrari cars in Vietnam equipped with carbon fiber wheels, the other being the first SF90 Stradale in Vietnam.

The design between the GTS (convertible) and GTB (hardtop) versions is not much different. The engine hood is placed horizontally and can observe the engine underneath. The only detail that makes a difference to the GTS version is the 2-piece convertible top that can be opened/closed electrically in 14 seconds when the car is moving and limited to speeds below 45 km/h.

The Ferrari 296 GTS uses a twin-turbo V6 engine with a displacement of 3.0 liters producing 663 horsepower, combined with an electric motor with a power output of 164 horsepower. The total power generated on this “super horse” is up to 818 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque. The car can easily reach 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 330 km/h.

Up to the present time, there have been no less than 4 Ferrari 296s brought to Vietnam through the authorized unit, including 2 GTB versions and 2 GTS versions. Three of these cars belong to tycoons in the Southern region, while the remaining car belongs to a tycoon living in Hanoi.
