According to industry experts in the Indonesian automotive sector, VinFast has the strengths to conquer the market here with its attractive design, quality, good performance, reasonable prices, and well-known after-sales service.
VinFast’s unmistakable design
VinFast’s debut at the International Motor Show Indonesia (IIMS) 2024 is leaving a strong impression on industry professionals and experienced car enthusiasts in the archipelago.
Narendra Wicaksana, an automotive expert for Setir Kanan – a major automotive website in Indonesia, said he was delighted that VinFast had come to Indonesia. He had heard of the Vietnamese brand before and even made a video about VinFast cars at an exhibition in Qatar last year. However, in this encounter in Indonesia, the electric vehicles from Vietnam still impressed him.
“The VinFast logo looks very impressive. Even from a distance, I can immediately recognize it as VinFast, not another brand,” Narendra Wicaksana happily remarked.
Narendra Wicaksana, an automotive expert, is enthusiastic about the modern and sporty designs of the VF 6 and VF 7.
The reviewer from Setir Kanan expressed his admiration for the design of VinFast’s electric cars. According to him, the VF e34 and VF 5 have a modern design, minimalist interiors, and are very suitable for the needs of Indonesian users and the Southeast Asian market in general. As for the VF 6 and VF 7, these are two particularly “sexy” models, the expert says. “These two cars look very modern, with a sporty design, and they truly impress me. The interiors of the cars are designed to be minimalist yet attractive, with a large central screen,” the expert noted.
Being particularly impressed with VinFast’s design, Jason Andhika Syarief, an automotive expert (CVT Indonesia channel), believes that VinFast’s line-up is very suitable for young consumers with its diverse and eye-catching colors and attractive designs. “Design is an extremely important factor. The designs of some other electric car brands in Asia are outdated. On the other hand, VinFast’s design is very appealing,” Jason Andhika Syarief commented.
Jason Andhika Syarief, an automotive expert (CVT Indonesia channel), emphasized that with strengths in design and good prices for customers, there is no reason why the Vietnamese brand cannot succeed in Indonesia.
He admits that many of his friends have shared their love for VinFast’s cars, and he himself plans to buy a VF 6 or VF 7. Jason Andhika Syarief asserts that with strengths in design and good prices for customers, there is no reason why the Vietnamese brand cannot succeed in the Indonesian market.
“VinFast electric cars will soon become popular in Indonesia.”
VinFast’s strengths are also highlighted by industry experts in Indonesia in many other aspects. Hartono Kurrniawan (PT Bevos Auto Mandiri dealership) said he had the opportunity to experience various VinFast electric car models and was impressed with their performance. “They are easy to drive, accelerate quickly, stable at high speeds, and extremely comfortable. The noise-canceling feature is also very good,” he said.
VinFast’s booth at the exhibition is drawing the attention of Indonesian and international customers.
Outstanding after-sales service will also be a significant advantage for VinFast to compete strongly in Indonesia. CEO Sandra Pohar (PT Gran Cipta Cerlang dealership) believes that Indonesian customers buying electric vehicles usually worry about issues that may arise during their use. “After-sales service is an extremely important factor for Indonesian consumers. If our dealerships sell a lot of cars but have poor after-sales service, we will lose customers. With VinFast’s after-sales service, we don’t have to worry about that. Therefore, VinFast electric cars will soon become popular in Indonesia,” Sandra Pohar shared.
She also highly appreciates VinFast’s professional approach in entering the Indonesian market, especially with plans to build a $200 million factory in the country. This is unusual for foreign companies to invest in Indonesia, and it demonstrates VinFast’s seriousness in the largest automotive market in Southeast Asia.
Regarding the prices of electric cars, Rockford Pojono, an automotive expert (LugNutz Auto Junkie channel), points out that although high-priced electric cars have appeared in Indonesia a few years ago, they have struggled to sell. Therefore, penetrating the market with affordable electric car models like the VF 5 will be VinFast’s formula for success. Moreover, according to him, the good price goes hand in hand with good quality products. “This is a significant strength of VinFast. I have experienced VinFast cars and found that they have excellent quality,” he affirmed.
In summarizing VinFast’s strengths, Hartono Kurrniawan (PT Bevos Auto Mandiri dealership) identifies three factors: product quality, price, and after-sales service. “These are all special strengths of VinFast. Therefore, I believe that many Indonesians will seek out the VinFast brand,” Hartono Kurrniawan stated with confidence.
On February 15, the 2024 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) opened at the Jakarta International Expo. Attending the exhibition, VinFast introduced its range of electric cars for the first time. At IIMS 2024, VinFast displayed 6 models: VF 5, VF e34, VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, VF9, ranging from A-SUV to E-SUV segments. Among these, VF 5, VF e34, VF 6, and VF 7 are expected to be the first models to be launched in the market in the near future.
At the event, Indonesian President Joko Widodo visited VinFast’s exhibition area and signed on the VinFast VF 5 car as a souvenir.
