Mecides specializes in producing imitation luxury cars from famous brands, but transforms them into high-riding versions.

Mecides, headquartered in Jiangsu Province, China, specializes in producing imitation cars from various different brands. Mecides’ imitation products are diverse, classified into 3 main groups: luxury cars; SUVs and pickups; compact cars and SUVs. One common feature of these models from this brand is that they are all electric cars and they are all transformed into high-riding cars.

While Bugatti has yet to introduce a high-riding model, Mecides has launched a model called MBJD. The front part of the Mecides MBJD is inspired by the Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept 2009, highlighted by a large-sized chrome-plated horseshoe grille surrounded by delicate LED lights. However, the Mecides MBJD has a height of 1,650mm, equivalent to the Kia Seltos crossover model, while the Bugatti supercar is only 1,524mm tall.

In addition to the Bugatti brand, Mecides also imitates models from Porsche, from the Cayman, Macan to a 911-style SUV. To have something more different, you can choose Aston Martin DBX or Maserati Grecale. Interestingly, Mecides has attached a Porsche-style logo on the front of the Grecale.

Turning to the SUV and pickup truck segment, this group stands out with an imitation version of the Ford Bronco or the Mercedes G-Class. As for pickup trucks, both the Ram 1500 and the Toyota Tundra have received copies from China.

If you think that Mecides will disregard the brands of the same hometown, then you are mistaken because this brand also imitates some car models from Jetour, Tank, Dongfeng, Wuling, Hongguang (Mini EV), and BYD (Dolphin). It can be said that the Saic GM Wuling Bingo is the most persuasive imitation and it is the only one that does not look like a toy car, at least from a distance.

Coming to the mass-market category, this group stands out with imitations of the Mini Countryman John Cooper Works, VW ID.4, or the Smart #1 that runs entirely on electricity.

Regarding length, the most common size of hatchback models ranges from 3,050mm to 3,800mm. While pickup truck models have a wheelbase length of up to 4,800mm. Despite their small size, all of these electric cars are equipped with four-wheel disc brakes.

Most of Mecides’ cars are equipped with an electric motor with a power of 13 horsepower and a torque of 8Nm. However, the imitation models of the Mini Countryman, BYD Dolphin, and Smart #1 have twice the power at 26 horsepower and a torque of 140Nm.

According to the manufacturer’s sharing, the battery capacity of the electric cars is 26 kWh. However, Mecides offers many different version options with different ranges, from 300 km to 800 km between charges.

The detailed prices of the car models are not publicly disclosed by Mecides, but the company is currently accepting orders for some models. Several posts on Instagram show imitation models of the Toyota Tundra priced at $2,300 (~56 million VND), while the imitation cars of Volkswagen ID or Bugatti are priced at $5,000 (~122 million VND).
