VinFast’s exhibition area with its range of reverse steering electric cars from segments A-E has become the center of attraction for thousands of visitors at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024 (held from 15/02 to 25/02/2024).
For the first time participating in the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), VinFast’s exhibition booth has impressed visitors with its scale and unique style carrying the message “Opening up a green life”.
At the exhibition, VinFast introduced for the first time its ecosystem of reverse-steering electric cars including models VF e34, VF 5, VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, VF 9.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Indonesian President Joko Widodo and the delegation visited VinFast’s exhibition booth, signed their names on the VinFast VF 5 and experienced the car. Previously, on January 13, during a state visit to Vietnam, President Joko Widodo visited VinFast’s factory in Hai Phong and said he would facilitate VinFast to complete investment and business procedures in the Indonesian market.
Indonesia International 2023 Miss International, Farhana Nariswari, also expressed her impression with VinFast’s electric car models, especially their powerful, sporty, yet gentle and elegant designs from the Vietnamese brand.
Most visitors were delighted with the stylish and glamorous appearance of VinFast electric cars. “VinFast’s range of cars has a very attractive design, with a touch of America and Europe, diverse and eye-catching colors, different from other Asian electric car brands that have quite outdated designs. I think VinFast cars are especially suitable for young consumers,” Jason Andhika Syarief (left), an automotive expert from CVT Indonesia channel, shared at the exhibition.
The VF 6 and VF 7 models were highly praised by many for their “charming, modern, sporty appearance and impressive interior.” The interior of the cars is designed to be minimalistic but eye-catching with a large center screen, which many visitors expressed their interest in.
Similarly, VF 5 and VF e34 are also expected to have great development potential in the Indonesian market in particular and Southeast Asia in general, especially in terms of mobility and easy access to urban areas with dense populations and affordable prices for various customer segments. “Entering the Indonesian market with cost-effective products like VF 5 will be the formula for VinFast’s success,” automotive expert Rockford Pojono from LugNutz Auto Junkie commented.
In addition to the impressive design and technical specifications of the electric cars, exhibition visitors also highly appreciated VinFast for quickly developing reverse steering versions. “I am truly surprised that VinFast has quickly introduced reverse steering products to the Indonesian market, especially when VinFast’s vehicles in Vietnam and other markets traditionally use right-hand drive. It partly demonstrates VinFast’s determination and seriousness when entering the Indonesian market. I am excited to experience these cars soon,” Saleha Simorangkir (Jakarta) shared at the exhibition.
As part of the exhibition, VinFast officially signed a Letter of Intent for cooperation with the first 5 dealerships in Indonesia, laying the foundation for market development in the most populous country in the region. “Indonesian consumers are particularly interested in 3 factors: product quality, price, and after-sales service. These are all VinFast’s special strengths. Therefore, I believe that many Indonesians will choose the VinFast brand,” Hartono Kurrniawan, representative of PT Bevos Auto Mandiri, predicted.
Indonesia has the largest new car consumption in the ASEAN market in the first 6 months of 2023, according to the data from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Automobile Manufacturers. Moreover, the government of Indonesia has set an early roadmap for electrifying transportation with strong incentive policies, making experts evaluate it as a potential electric car market for VinFast, especially when the Vietnamese brand has gained a great reputation in the global market.
VinFast has also announced plans to invest a minimum of $1.2 billion in Indonesia in the long term. In the initial stage, the company will distribute imported cars from Vietnam. Concurrently, VinFast will build an electric car production plant in Indonesia with a capacity of up to 50,000 electric cars per year and a goal of achieving localization rates up to 40%.
The Indonesia International Motor Show is one of the two largest auto shows in Southeast Asia, taking place from February 15th to 25th, 2024, in the capital city of Jakarta. VinFast’s grand debut at the exhibition marks an important milestone for the company in expanding its market in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. With what VinFast has shown in the early days of the exhibition, VinFast’s booth promises to continue being one of the hottest highlights in the coming days.
