The Toyota Raize has been confirmed to be unaffected by the Daihatsu safety testing scandal. The model will continue to be produced and sold in the market.

According to information from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan (MLIT), three models, Subaru REX, Daihatsu Rocky, and Toyota Raize produced by Daihatsu have been confirmed to be unaffected by the safety testing scandal. Thus, all three products will continue to be licensed for mass production and sale in the market.

Daihatsu has expressed its readiness to cooperate with suppliers and dealers, emphasizing that it will continue the production and distribution process quickly.

“We will continue to take necessary actions according to MLIT guidelines, such as conducting tests with the presence of certification agencies. The company will do its utmost to ensure that these cars reach customers as soon as possible, while reaffirming our commitment to safety and quality,” said the Daihatsu spokesperson.

In addition, the authorities have also confirmed that some models have ceased production, including Daihatsu Hijet Cargo, Toyota Pixis Van, and Subaru Sambar Van, which also comply with the standards of the Road Traffic Act.

Daihatsu was forced to suspend the delivery of all models at the end of last year, including some models sold under the Toyota, Subaru, and Mazda brands.

This stems from an internal investigation that revealed Daihatsu had manipulated vehicle safety testing data. About 64 car models had wrong test scores compared to reality, including over 20 products sold under the Toyota brand.

The investigation also found that Daihatsu had been doing this for the past three decades. However, Toyota stated that there have been no accidents related to safety testing fraud.
