As the automobile market in Vietnam is just starting the new year, car manufacturers have launched attractive offers or adjusted prices for many models in favor of customers. At the beginning of the new year, Vietnamese people have the opportunity to buy cars with discounts of up to hundreds of millions of VND.

Honda’s lineup

Despite the end of the preferential policy on registration fees for domestically assembled cars, Honda continues to implement a program that offers 100% maximum support for registration fees for Honda City models, along with a large promotion for domestically assembled Honda CR-V models.

Specifically, the G and L versions of Honda City models will receive a 100% discount on registration fees, calculated at 10% of the listed price of the car. With this program, customers buying G and L versions of Honda City will receive a deduction of 56-59 million VND when registering their cars, along with one year of hull insurance and many gifts from the dealer.

For the RS version of Honda City, the discount on registration fees is 50%, along with one year of hull insurance and gifts from the dealer. Therefore, when buying the RS version of Honda City in January, customers will receive a reduction of about 30 million VND in registration fees.

For the G and L versions of the new generation Honda CR-V, the Japanese automaker is offering one year of hull insurance, 2 years of extended warranty, and regular maintenance package for customers purchasing the car in January. Currently, the listed price of the Honda CR-V G model is 1.109 billion VND, while the L model has a price of 1.159 billion VND, which increases to 1.31 billion VND if customers choose the AWD drivetrain.

In addition to domestically assembled cars, Honda also offers a 50% discount on registration fees for imported cars such as Honda HR-V, Honda Civic, and Honda Accord.

As of November 2023, Honda’s vehicle sales in the Vietnamese market reached 19,743 units. Among them, Honda City is the best-selling model with 8,391 units sold, accounting for 42.5% of the total sales of the brand.

Toyota reduces prices for SUVs

In the first week of 2024, Toyota Vietnam introduced the new generation Fortuner alongside price adjustments for several models.

In particular, the listed price of Toyota Raize has been reduced by 54 million VND, now only costing 498 million VND, which is the most accessible price in the small urban SUV segment. The prices of different versions of Toyota Yaris Cross have also been adjusted, with a reduction of 73-80 million VND at the beginning of the year, bringing the prices down to 650-765 million VND, on par with its competitor Hyundai Creta.

As for the new Fortuner version released in 2024, its price is also lower by 64-120 million VND compared to the previous model. The highest price reduction is applied to the 2.8AT 4×4 Legender version of Toyota Fortuner, with a price of 1.35 billion VND from the beginning of 2024, equivalent to a reduction of 120 million VND compared to the previous listed price.

After 11 months of 2023, Toyota’s total sales in the Vietnamese market reached 48,364 units, slightly higher than the sales of Hyundai’s passenger car group. Until the last reporting period of 2023, Toyota Vios remained the most popular model among Vietnamese customers with a sales volume of 10,499 units.

Subaru gives hundreds of millions of VND in discounts

In January, the Japanese automaker Subaru will launch a promotion program worth hundreds of millions of VND for many models sold in the Vietnamese market.

Customers purchasing Subaru Forester models in January will receive cash discounts ranging from 170 million VND to 250 million VND, depending on the model, along with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and official accessories such as an automatic folding mirror set or a headrest set.

For the Subaru Outback 2.5 i-T EyeSight, the company is offering a 312 million VND discount in January, bringing the price of the car to 1.787 billion VND. Subaru WRX 2.4 CVT EyeSight is also eligible for a cash discount of 307 million VND for customers purchasing the car in the first month of the year.

The highest discount offered by Subaru this time is for the Subaru BRZ 2.4 AT EyeSight, with a discount of 410 million VND. After the discount, this sports car is priced at 1.489 billion VND, including a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and a set of 4 Subaru headrests.

Mercedes-Benz luxury cars with reduced registration fees

Similarly to Honda, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam continues to offer a partial discount on registration fees for C-Class, E-Class, and V-Class models until the end of February, even though the government’s policy ended in late 2023.

Specifically, Vietnamese customers who purchase Mercedes-Benz C-Class (1.599-2.099 billion VND) along with Mercedes-Benz E-Class (2.159-3.209 billion VND) and Mercedes-Benz V-Class (3.099-3.759 billion VND) in the first two months of the year will receive a corresponding 50% discount on registration fees.

This discount will be deducted directly from the car’s selling price and will be determined based on the applicable registration fee in the locality of registration.

In addition to this program, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam is also offering a 2-year insurance package for customers purchasing domestically assembled GLC models, as well as for GLS, S-Class, G-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, and Mercedes-AMG models.

For customers interested in Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles, the German automaker offers a complimentary Mercedes-Benz Wallbox worth nearly 47 million VND when purchasing EQ models from now until the end of June.

Deep discounts for Volkswagen vehicles

After being implemented for several months in 2023, the discount program for Volkswagen vehicles in Vietnam continues into the new year.

Specifically, the two SUV models Teramont and Touareg have cash discounts of up to 400 million VND. After the discount, the price of Volkswagen Teramont is currently at 2.099 billion VND, while the Luxury version of Touareg has a listed price of 3.099 billion VND.

Customers buying Volkswagen T-Cross also enjoy a maximum discount of 300 million VND, bringing the price of the Luxury version down to 999 million VND. Similarly, the Luxury version of the Volkswagen Virtus sedan is also eligible for an equivalent discount, reducing the price to 699 million VND in the early days of the year.

Despite the generous discounts, Volkswagen vehicles still have higher prices than many competitors in the same segment in the Vietnamese market. For example, the price of the Volkswagen T-Cross SUV after the discount is still much higher than the Toyota Yaris Cross (650-765 million VND), Hyundai Creta (640-740 million VND), or even the highest-priced Honda HR-V RS at 871 million VND.

Similarly, the price of the Volkswagen Virtus is 699 million VND, which is still higher than the second most expensive model in its segment, the Honda City RS. The price difference between the post-discount Virtus Luxury and the listed price of the 2023 Honda City RS is currently 90 million VND.

Discounts for mini electric cars

Although introduced at the end of June 2023 and becoming the cheapest car in the market, the Wuling Hongguang MiniEV has not received much attention from Vietnamese customers.

In the first month of the year, dealerships are offering a 40 million VND discount for all versions of this mini electric car. After the discount, the selling price of the Wuling Hongguang MiniEV ranges from 199 million VND to 239 million VND, depending on the version.

By comparing it to the listed price of 151 million VND for the SH 350i scooter, the small-sized electric car from the Chinese brand only costs slightly more than 48 million VND.
