Japanese automaker had planned to introduce the CX-70 in 2023, however, the event has been postponed until January 30, 2024. Canada will be the first market to launch the Mazda CX-70.

Mazda has previously shared in an investor meeting that the CX-70 is a two-row variant of the CX-90. Currently, the Mazda Canada website has not provided any information about this new model.

According to the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the Mazda CX-70 will use the same engine as its “big brother” the CX-90, along with all-wheel drive for all versions.

This information means that the CX-70 sold in the US will be equipped with a 3.3L engine producing 280 horsepower at a range of 5,000-6,000 rpm, with a maximum torque of 450 Nm at a range of 2,000-3,500 rpm. As for the PHEV variant, the CX-90 currently uses a 2.5L engine with a total output of 323 horsepower and a maximum torque of 500 Nm.

The Mazda CX-70 can be seen as a complete SUV model in the new generation of the Japanese brand, which currently includes the CX-30, CX-50, and CX-90.

In the Vietnamese market, the CX-5 is still the main model of the Mazda brand. As of November 2023, the annual sales volume of the Mazda CX-5 reached 14,758 units, accounting for over 47% of the brand’s total sales.
