In June 2023, Porsche unveiled the Mission X EV concept with the aim of replacing the flagship 918 Spyder lineup.
Currently, the German automaker has not confirmed whether to put the Mission X EV into mass production or not. However, this year, enthusiasts of this model will receive an official answer from Porsche.
Previously, Porsche developed the Mission X as a research product rather than intending to sell cars. However, after being introduced, this model has received a lot of attention from users, which may make the German automaker rethink their plans.
Currently, Porsche has just launched the new Macan EV model and the upgraded Taycan. Next will be the electric 718 Boxster and the electric Porsche Cayenne, expected to be launched in 2025 and 2026, respectively.
Therefore, if Porsche produces the Mission X, it will take quite a lot of time and they will need to balance the launch plans of other models.
The Mission X concept features a muscular design but not overly aggressive. The car has a Rocket Metallic bronze exterior with carbon fiber patterns as accents.
The front of the car impresses with vertical LED headlights with an activated effect that simulates an open eye, inspired by racing models like the Porsche 906 and 908.
The rear of the car is designed in a raised form, accompanied by integrated taillights with illuminating Porsche logo. This design was previously used on the Bugatti W16 Mistral.
Inside the Mission X concept’s cabin, there are carbon frame sports seats with different colors for passenger and driver seats. The car is equipped with multiple cameras and an optional stopwatch module with both analog and digital displays.
Although Porsche does not reveal much about the drivetrain setup, such as the number of motors the car has, the automaker states that the 900V electrical structure will allow the car to charge twice as fast as the current Porsche Taycan – one of the fastest charging EVs in the world.
