According to some sources, the high-performance version of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is set to launch in Japan in the third quarter of 2024 under the name Ralliart.

Best Car magazine in Japan stated that the Outlander PHEV Ralliart, which has long been rumored, will be introduced to the Japanese market as a standalone flagship model by the end of this year. However, there is still no official information from Mitsubishi regarding whether the Ralliart variant will be put into production, or any information on testing the high-performance plug-in hybrid SUV.

If the rumors turn out to be true, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Ralliart is expected to have a bold design similar to the Vision Ralliart Concept 2022, featuring 22-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, and aggressive front and rear bumpers.

However, the Outlander PHEV Ralliart will not be a mere cosmetic package like the current versions offered in the US. Instead, the vehicle will feature an upgraded chassis, enhanced steering system, and increased power from the hybrid drivetrain.

Additionally, the car is expected to receive some improvements to the four-wheel drive system and Active Yaw Control (S-AWC) system for high-speed cornering.

According to Best Car, the hybrid powertrain consists of a upgraded 2.4L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 285 horsepower, an increase of 38 horsepower over the standard Outlander PHEV, while maintaining a torque output of 450Nm.

In Japan, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Ralliart is expected to have a price range of 5.5 to 6 million yen, higher than the 4.8 to 5.7 million yen range of the regular Outlander.
