Discounted SUVs at the beginning of the year, popular cars also have benefits

In the first month of the year, there are huge discounts on high-performance SUVs. Numerous leading models in the segment are also eligible for the promotional program.

In the second week of the new year 2024, many spacious SUV models continue to receive promotions and incentives from dealerships and car manufacturers to attract customers.

MPVs making efforts to improve sales

In the first month of the year, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is the model that the Japanese automaker applies the largest discount program to, with a maximum value of VND 140 million. Specifically, this model receives 100% tax exemption, 2 years of physical damage insurance, and a fuel voucher worth VND 30 million. In addition, Vietnamese customers buying the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid in January also receive 0% interest rate financing for 12 months.

In the Vietnamese market, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is not a popular model in the budget MPV segment. Before the December 2023 report was released, the sales volume of the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid was 809 units, which means an average of just over 73 vehicles delivered to Vietnamese customers each month.

At the same time, the Suzuki XL7 also has a promotion from the Japanese car manufacturer, offering 100% tax exemption and a fuel voucher of VND 10 million. The total value of the incentives that customers buying the Suzuki XL7 receive in January is up to VND 70 million and can be converted into cash.

Even the best-selling MPV in Vietnam, the Mitsubishi Xpander, also receives a 50% tax exemption. Specifically, the Xpander Cross receives an equivalent discount of VND 34.9 million along with a 360-degree rearview camera, while the other variants receive a maximum discount of VND 32.9 million along with gifts from the manufacturer.

Many Toyota dealerships are offering a VND 10 million discount along with one-year vehicle physical damage insurance for customers choosing to buy the Toyota Veloz Cross and Toyota Avanza Premio in January. According to sales consultants, the impact of Toyota Vietnam’s suspension of sales of the Avanza Premio MT is not significant because in reality, the sales volume of this version of the MPV was not high before the incident.

Meanwhile, a sales consultant at a Hyundai dealership in the Southern region stated that the Hyundai Stargazer is temporarily out of stock. In some places where there are still units available, customers buying the Hyundai Stargazer can only choose the Standard version in very limited quantities.

In Vietnam, the small-size MPV segment has shown strong differentiation since early last year when the Mitsubishi Xpander consistently maintained good sales, while its competitors struggled in the market.

After 11 months of 2023, the sales volume of the Mitsubishi Xpander reached 16,931 units, surpassing many competitors in the same segment such as the Toyota Veloz Cross (7,648 units), Hyundai Stargazer (3,450 units), Kia Carens (3,325 units), Suzuki XL7 (2,331 units), and the newcomer Honda BR-V (2,341 units).

SUVs also receive price reductions

In contrast to the budget MPV segment, many 7-seater SUV models have officially adjusted their listed prices downwards.

Accordingly, Toyota Vietnam announced the adjustment of the listed prices of the Fortuner models in parallel with the launch of the 2024 Toyota Fortuner. After the adjustment, the listed prices of the Toyota Fortuner now start at VND 1.055 billion for the 2.4AT 4×2 version and reach up to 1.35 billion for the Legender 2.8AT 4×4 version.

Therefore, compared to the previous selling prices, the Toyota Fortuner in the Vietnamese market has been reduced by at least VND 63 million and up to VND 120 million in the early days of the new year.

As for the Kia Sorento, the 7-seater SUV from the Korean brand has just had its listed prices adjusted downwards by VND 20 million up to a maximum of VND 60 million. Some of the Sorento versions with new prices in this adjustment period include the Kia Sorento 2.2D Luxury 2WD (new price VND 979 million, reduced by VND 20 million), Kia Sorento 2.5G Premium 2WD (1.049 billion, reduced by VND 45 million), and the 2.2D Signature AWD version with a 6-seater configuration, brown interior and equipped with Kia Connect Lite, which is reduced by VND 60 million, currently priced at 1.199 billion.

The remaining versions of the Kia Sorento with adjusted listed prices in this period include the 2.2D Premium AWD, 2.2D Signature AWD (7-seater) Brown Interior + Kia Connect Lite, 2.5G Signature AWD (7-seater) Brown Interior + Kia Connect Lite, 2.5G Signature AWD (7-seater) Black Interior, 2.2D Signature AWD (7-seater) Black Interior, and the 2.5G Signature AWD (6-seater) Brown Interior + Kia Connect Lite.

Also in January, Ford Vietnam announced the implementation of a 50% tax exemption program for the Ford Everest, the second best-selling SUV in the company’s passenger car lineup.

With a total of 5 versions and prices ranging from VND 1.099 billion to 1.499 billion, the 50% tax exemption program that Ford Vietnam applies from January 10th to January 27th will help customers buying the Ford Everest enjoy incentives worth VND 55-75 million.

In its segment, the Ford Everest leads the consumption volume with 8,476 units sold after the first 11 months of 2023. The Hyundai Santa Fe ranks second with a sales volume of 5,528 units, while the Toyota Fortuner achieved sales of 3,283 units in the same period.
