A-segment SUV Sales Table in January 2024 (unit: vehicles)
Kia Sonet: 710 vehicles
Kia Sonet continued to be the best-selling A-segment SUV in January 2024 with 710 vehicles sold. Compared to December 2023, the sales of this South Korean model decreased by 47.5%. Sonet not only leads the segment but also becomes Kia’s best-selling model and one of the most popular cars in the market.
Kia Sonet
In 2023, Kia Sonet was also the most chosen A-segment SUV by Vietnamese consumers. This is not surprising as Kia’s model has a fashionable and modern exterior design, well-equipped in the segment, and attractive prices ranging from 519 – 574 million VND for 3 versions.
Some notable features of the Kia Sonet include full LED headlights with automatic on/off, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, automatic air conditioning with rear vents, a sunroof, wireless phone charging, and a 6-speaker sound system.
The Kia Sonet is powered by a 1.5L Smartstream petrol engine with a maximum power output of 113 horsepower and a peak torque of 144 Nm. The engine is paired with an intelligent Smartstream IVT continuously variable transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission.
Toyota Raize: 263 vehicles
In January 2024, Toyota Raize was priced at only 498 million VND, the cheapest in the A-segment SUV. However, this could not help Toyota’s model achieve high sales.
In January 2024, Toyota Raize only sold 263 vehicles, one-third of its rival Kia Sonet. Compared to December 2023, the sales of this model decreased by 15.7%.
Toyota Raize
In addition to the competitive price, the Toyota Raize also features a sporty exterior design, sufficient equipment, and a reputable brand. The car is equipped with full LED headlights, 17-inch sporty alloy wheels, paddle shifters on the steering wheel, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, push-button start, and automatic air conditioning.
Furthermore, the car stands out with safety features such as Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), 4 front/rear sensors, and 6 airbags.
The Toyota Raize is powered by a turbocharged 1.0L petrol engine with a maximum power output of 98 horsepower and a peak torque of 140 Nm. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (D-CVT).
Hyundai Venue: 196 vehicles
As mentioned above, Hyundai Venue is the only A-segment SUV that has seen an increase in sales with a growth rate of 8.1% to 196 vehicles. However, this result is due to the fact that the Hyundai Venue was just launched in mid-December 2023, so the sales during that month were not high.
Hyundai Venue
As a newcomer to the A-segment SUV, the Hyundai Venue attracts attention with its exterior design resembling a downsized version of the Palisade. In addition, the car is equipped with features such as LED headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple Carplay support, USB Type-C charging port, a 6-speaker audio system, push-button start, smart key, and automatic air conditioning with rear vents.
The safety features of the Hyundai Venue are also quite comprehensive in the segment, including 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), rearview camera, rear sensors, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Cruise Control, Speed Limiter, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and automatic headlights.
The Venue is equipped with a powerful engine compared to the two aforementioned rivals. Specifically, the car uses a 1.0L turbocharged 3-cylinder gasoline engine with a peak power of 120 horsepower and a peak torque of 172 Nm. The engine is combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
The Hyundai Venue in Vietnam is available in 2 variants with prices ranging from 539 – 579 million VND.

Honda Accord: 40 Years of Automotive Excellence
Looking at the Vietnamese car market right now and humorously comparing it, we will see Camry as a well-behaved young girl, not outstanding in every aspect but easily becoming the choice of the “other half”. Teana, on the other hand, is like a dignified and tranquil woman, full of courage. Meanwhile, Mazda6 is like a hot girl, quickly attracting and captivating anyone’s gaze from the first encounter. As for Accord – with the elegance and experiences of a U30 lady, even though she is always praised by everyone, she hides something “difficult to deal with” in the minds of the majority.
