Sales Chart of C-segment Sedans in January 2024 (unit: cars)

Mazda3: 398 cars

Mazda3 is the best-selling C-segment sedan in the Vietnamese market in 2023. In January 2024, this Japanese model continued to maintain its momentum and topped the segment with sales of 398 cars. However, compared to December 2023, the sales of Mazda3 decreased by 56.8%.

Mazda3

Mazda3 is favored by Vietnamese people thanks to its attractive exterior design, sturdy body, and well-equipped features for convenience and safety, not inferior to its competitors. Moreover, this car has a very affordable price range, ranging from 579 to 739 million VND for 4 versions. With this price range, Mazda3 is currently one of the most affordable C-segment sedans in Vietnam.

However, the engine of Mazda3 is relatively weak compared to its competitors in the same segment. Specifically, the car uses a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a maximum power of 110 horsepower and a peak torque of 145 Nm. The engine is combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Kia K3: 175 cars

In January 2024, Kia K3 climbed to the 2nd position in the C-segment sedan segment, surpassing Hyundai Elantra. Specifically, this model sold 175 units, a decrease of 52.5% compared to the previous month.

Kia K3

Previously, Kia K3 was the best-selling C-segment sedan in Vietnam. However, in the past year, this Korean car lost its momentum and sold less than its competitor, Mazda3. The biggest weakness of Kia K3 is the lack of active safety features like its competitors.

On the other hand, Kia K3 has a comfortable price range, ranging from 549 to 739 million VND for 5 versions. Additionally, this car has 3 engine options.

The first option is a 1.6L gasoline engine with a maximum power of 126 horsepower and a peak torque of 155 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, depending on the version. The second option is a 2.0L engine with a maximum power of 150 horsepower and a peak torque of 192 Nm, combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The third option is a turbocharged 1.6L engine with a maximum power of 201 horsepower and a peak torque of 265 Nm, paired with a dual-clutch 7-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai Elantra: 153 cars

Like other Hyundai models, Elantra also had an unsuccessful month of sales with only 153 cars sold, a decrease of 59.1%. This caused Hyundai Elantra to fall to the 3rd position in the C-segment sedan segment.

Hyundai Elantra

Compared to Kia K3 and Mazda3, Hyundai Elantra is slightly more expensive, ranging from 599 to 799 million VND for 4 versions. However, the car also has 3 engine options, similar to its cousin, Kia K3.

The first option is a 1.6L Gamma II gasoline engine with a maximum power of 128 horsepower and a peak torque of 155 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. The second option is a 2.0L Nu engine, producing a maximum power of 159 horsepower and a peak torque of 193 Nm, combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The third option is a turbocharged 1.6L engine in the N-Line version, equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and providing a maximum power of 204 horsepower and a torque of 265 Nm.

In addition to the engine options, the car is equipped with various convenient features such as LED headlights, hands-free trunk lid, automatic wipers, sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, 10-way power-adjustable leather seats, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, wireless phone charging, and 6 speakers.

Honda Civic: 129 cars

Honda Civic is the model with the lowest sales decrease rate in the C-segment sedan segment. With sales of 129 cars, a decrease of only 9.15%, this car remained in the 4th position in the segment.

Honda Civic

Honda Civic’s competitive advantage lies in its attractive exterior design, well-equipped features, and abundant safety features. The car is equipped with leather seats, power-adjustable driver seat, 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, 9-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, 12-speaker Bose audio system, and active safety features within the Honda Sensing package.

Furthermore, the car is highly appreciated for its driving experience and engine performance. It uses a turbocharged 1.5L gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.5L, producing a maximum power of 178 horsepower and a peak torque of 240 Nm. The engine is coupled with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive.

Unfortunately, the price of Honda Civic is quite high, ranging from 730 to 870 million VND for 3 versions.

Toyota Corolla Altis: 49 cars

Once again, Toyota Corolla Altis lost its momentum and sold less than Honda Civic. With sales of only 49 cars, a decrease of 57%, this Toyota model is at the bottom of the C-segment sedan segment.

Toyota Corolla Altis

In early October 2023, Toyota Corolla Altis received a minor update. In the new version, Toyota Corolla Altis is equipped with additional features such as a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, auto-dimming rearview mirror, blind-spot monitoring system (BSM), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), and a 360-degree camera.

The engine of this car remains unchanged, including 2 options. The first option is a 1.8L gasoline engine with a maximum power of 138 horsepower and a peak torque of 172 Nm. The second option is a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.8L gasoline engine and an electric motor, providing a total output of 122 horsepower. Both options are paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive.

Similar to Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis has a relatively high price range, ranging from 725 to 870 million VND.
