Recently, many Ford sales consultants have announced that they are accepting deposits for the 2024 Transit.
This “people’s service vehicle” model may be introduced in 2 versions: manual and automatic, with expected prices of 889 – 899 million and 949 million VND. Dealers promise to deliver the car in June this year.
The current Ford Transit is sold in Vietnam for 849 million VND. Therefore, in the new version, the price of the car will increase by 50 – 100 million VND.
At the end of 2023, Ford registered industrial design protection for the new generation Transit in Vietnam. In late January, this 16-seat model was also spotted at Ford’s factory in Hai Duong province.
Similar to the Ford Transit currently sold in Vietnam, the new generation is still a version for the Chinese market, not a global version. The car continues to be developed by the JMC-Ford joint venture, which has previously developed the Territory SUV model.
In the new generation, the 2024 Transit may be available in two variants: cargo and passenger. The car also has 3 wheelbase lengths, including short (3,000 mm), medium (3,300 mm), and long (3,750 mm), with 2 options for roof height (medium and high).
From the shared images, the 2024 Transit in Vietnam has a honeycomb grille, so it is likely that this is the passenger version with high roof. The front of the car has LED headlights in the C-shaped design, similar to Ford models like Ranger and Everest.
It is not clear whether the equipment will be reduced when the car arrives in Vietnam. In the Chinese market, the cabin of the new Transit has been almost completely upgraded. The highlight on the dashboard is a modern 12.3-inch dual-screen. The car is equipped with many convenient features such as smart lock, voice interaction, seat heating, and steering wheel. In addition, the car also has 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and remote start air conditioning feature.
In terms of safety equipment, the new Ford Transit has advanced level 2.5 driving assistance system (ADAS) and Bosch’s vehicle stability system. The chassis of the new Transit is reinforced with 68 points of boron steel. The testing standards and corrosion standards applied to the new generation Transit are also superior to the general standards of the industry.
In the new version, the Ford Transit is also equipped with the RAS air suspension system, which allows the driver to adjust the ground clearance of the car through the control screen.
It is not clear what engine the car will use in Vietnam. In China, the Transit is equipped with two engine options. The first is the 2.3L turbocharged PUMA diesel engine with a power of 175 horsepower and a torque of 430 Nm, combined with the option of an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission or a 6-speed and 7-speed Magna manual transmission.
The second is the 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine with a power of 154 horsepower and a torque of 390 Nm, with a 6-speed or 7-speed manual transmission.
