BYD continues to disrupt the Chinese car market with the Qin Plus DM-i Honor Edition, priced at around 270 million VND (equivalent to 270 million VND).
The electric car price battle in China is becoming increasingly fierce as BYD recently launched the Qin Plus DM-I 2024 Honor Edition, with a starting price of only 79,800 NDT (about 270 million VND).
“This price point will make petrol car manufacturers worried,” BYD stated in a press release, and believes that the Qin Plus will soon become the benchmark for the small car segment.
The Qin Plus DM-i plug-in hybrid (PHEV) is 15% cheaper than the Volkswagen Lavida and nearly 40% cheaper than the standard Toyota Corolla. Compared to other hybrids like the Toyota Prius, which costs $25,000, the BYD model is only half the price.
Last year, the BYD Qin Plus was the second best-selling car in China with sales of 434,213 units, behind the Tesla Model Y.
The BYD Qin Plus has dimensions of 4,765 x 1,837 x 1,495 mm – similar in size to the Toyota Corolla. The car is equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.5L engine combined with an electric motor, with two power output options: 180 horsepower/316 Nm and 197 horsepower/325 Nm. Powering the electric motor are two battery options with capacities of 8.32 kWh and 18.32 kWh.
In terms of equipment, despite its affordable price, the BYD Qin Plus DM-i Honor Edition still features a large center entertainment screen, digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, along with leather seats and dashboard.
According to plans, BYD will start selling the product in the Vietnamese market from May 2024, with the first model predicted to be the Atto 3. In the future, there is a possibility that the BYD Qin will also be distributed in our country.
