Buying luxury cars, Vietnamese tycoons not only have to bear much higher prices after taxes than neighboring countries, but also have to accept low liquidity and high depreciation. For example, recently, Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu lost more than 4 billion VND when selling the Porsche Panamera Turbo S 2022, which had not even run 1,000 km but still hasn’t found a new owner for 5 months.

Recently, a car dealership in Hanoi has offered to sell a 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost for over 4 billion VND, which has surprised many people. According to the seller, the car has traveled more than 50,000 km – a common odometer reading for many cars of the same model and can be considered low compared to some cars that have even reached over 120,000 km.

Compared to the purchase price, the previous owner of the car suffered a loss of no less than 15 billion VND after 14 years of use. However, this loss is still low because the car was imported into Vietnam before 2016 and the tax calculation method was not as high as the current regulations.

In the price range of over 4 billion VND, customers can now own a brand new Mercedes-Benz S 450 4Matic 2023. The 2010 Ghost is even cheaper than the price of the 2023 S 450 4Matic Luxury, which is currently being officially distributed in Germany with a price of 5.559 billion VND.

The appearance of the car has been upgraded from Series I to Series II, in which the most noticeable change is the front part of the car with larger air intakes, accompanied by a new distinctive lighting system to replace the original simple headlights. The cost for this “item” is over 200 million VND.

After more than a decade of use, the car’s maroon paint is still intact. The previous owner has refreshed it with a layer of black decal on the exterior and small details such as the grille, the flying female spirit emblem, door sill, trunk lid cover, exhaust pipe cover, etc. to give it a sporty look like the Black Badge version.

The chrome-plated 7-spoke wheels with a size of 20 inches are still quite new. The black painted wheel lock details create highlights for the car. The Rolls-Royce logo remains still even when the car is running.

The interior space still retains the luxury and extravagance that are typical of British luxury car brands. However, the seats and leather details have shown signs of “aging” with less tension, accompanied by some wrinkles and lighter colors.

Chrome-plated positions such as air vents, physical buttons, or door handles still retain their shine, adding variety to the cabin. In addition, the wood trim has become darker. The car has some additional features such as panoramic sunroof, entertainment screen for rear seats, premium audio system, etc.

The rear seats of the car consist of two seats, but there is no fixed armrest and only a mobile one is used, integrating some function buttons. Each position is accompanied by an entertainment screen mounted on the back of the front seat and a small picnic table.

The 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost is equipped with a naturally aspirated V12 engine with a displacement of 6.6 liters, generating a maximum power of 570 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 780 Nm at 1,500 rpm. The power is transmitted to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 249 km/h.

With a price of over 4 billion VND, the 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost is considered a worthwhile choice for tycoons who want to experience a luxury car but do not have too much financial resources. In return, a 13-year-old British luxury car requires meticulous care, thorough maintenance during use, and the need to replace many components to ensure the best possible performance.

Additionally, the naturally aspirated V12 engine with a displacement of up to 6.6 liters requires the owner to spend a considerable amount of money on fuel, as the actual fuel consumption of the car in the city has been disclosed by some people to be over 20 liters/100 km.
