Japan’s Best Car magazine confirms that the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be launched worldwide later this year. The car is developed based on a ladder frame platform and has a four-wheel drive system.

Details about the small-sized version of the Toyota Land Cruiser have been leaked by the Japanese magazine Best Car – famous for its early access to information about Toyota’s future models. Matching the previously published information, the magazine confirms that the new SUV will be called the Land Cruiser FJ. In addition, Best Car also released predicted design images for this highly anticipated model.

Best Car quotes a source that reveals Land Cruiser FJ is expected to debut in December 2024 and will be equipped with a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine (166 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque), similar to the Toyota Hilux Champ pickup currently sold in Australia.

Therefore, it is highly likely that the Land Cruiser FJ will use the ladder frame iMV platform of the Toyota Hilux Champ instead of the previously published TNGA-F platform. This SUV model will be equipped with a four-wheel drive system instead of the rear-wheel drive system of the same brand’s pickup truck.

With a wheelbase length ranging from 2,745mm to 2,750mm (depending on the version), the Land Cruiser FJ will be significantly larger than its competitor, the 5-door Suzuki Jimny (2,590mm).

The Land Cruiser FJ is a project that Toyota has been nurturing for quite some time. This is the commercial version of the Compact Cruiser EV concept car introduced in 2021. According to the information published by Best Car a few weeks ago, the starting price for this SUV model could be around 3.6 million Yen, equivalent to 587 million VND at the current exchange rate.
