High-riding cars are still a trend that many users in Vietnam prefer. It is expected that 2024 will be a vibrant year for the Vietnamese car market with the introduction of many hot high-riding car models.
2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado
According to information from sales staff at Toyota Vietnam dealerships, the new generation Land Cruiser Prado 2024 will be brought to Vietnam in the middle of this year. Currently, the selling price of the Land Cruiser Prado 2024 in Vietnam has not been announced, but it is likely to be higher than the current version that is sold for more than 2.6 billion VND.
In the new generation, the Land Cruiser Prado 2024 features a square boxy design with some design highlights inspired by classic styles. The front of the car stands out with a rectangular grille and round or rectangular headlights, accompanied by rugged front/rear bumper. The rear of the car has vertically positioned LED taillights.
The new generation Land Cruiser Prado 2024 for the Vietnamese market is said to use the T24A-FTS turbocharged gasoline engine with a displacement of 2.4L, a power output of 281 horsepower, a maximum torque of 430 Nm, and an 8-speed Direct Shift-8AT automatic transmission. This is also the engine configuration applied to Prado 250 models sold in Eastern Europe and Middle Eastern countries. In addition, there are rumors that the Land Cruiser Prado 250 in Vietnam will also have an additional option of a hybrid gasoline-electric engine, which was initially only available for the North American and Chinese markets.
2024 Hyundai Santa Fe
After half a year of its global debut, the new generation Hyundai Santa Fe 2024 has arrived in the Southeast Asian market. This model is currently preparing for sale in the Philippines market and is expected to be brought to Vietnam this year.
The Hyundai Santa Fe 2024 impresses with its boxy exterior design, replacing the round shape of the previous generation. This style is considered quite similar to the Land Rover Defender. The manufacturer explained that this is to provide users with a more practical SUV.
The most prominent feature of the new Santa Fe is the “H” shaped LED headlights, with air vents and a square grille. The grille has an additional horizontal LED strip connecting the lighting cluster.
The rear of the Hyundai Santa Fe 2024 has caused much controversy, with many individuals commenting that it is too simple and not suitable for the boxy shape of the car. The LED taillights have an “H” interface similar to the lighting cluster, but the rear bumper is completely flat without air vents.
The Hyundai Santa Fe 2024 is predicted by the Philippine media to have two engine options. The first is a 2.5L Smartstream turbocharged gasoline engine with a maximum output of 277 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque. This engine is combined with an 8-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission and an AWD HTRAC drivetrain.
The other option is a hybrid powertrain, combining the 1.6L Smartstream turbocharged engine generating 178 horsepower and 265 Nm with a powerful electric motor of 64 horsepower/264 Nm, for a total output of 232 horsepower and 367 Nm.
2024 Mitsubishi Triton
The all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton, the 6th generation, was launched in Thailand last year with notable improvements and is expected to be brought to Vietnam in the first months of 2024.
The 2024 Mitsubishi Triton has an overall length of 5,360 mm, width of 1,930 mm, height of 1,815 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,130 mm. This turns Mitsubishi’s pickup truck from being one of the smallest to one of the largest in the segment. For comparison, the current generation Hilux is 5,325 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, 1,815 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 3,085 mm.
Externally, in this upgrade, the Triton has a more boxy and muscular shape. The car is equipped with T-shaped LED lighting for both the headlights and taillights. The front of the car is extended with a large vertically positioned grille. Meanwhile, fog lights are placed below the front bumper on both sides.
The two sides of the vehicle are relatively flat in design. The car comes with a roof rack and a sports bar on the cargo bed. At the rear, the new Triton’s tail is also redesigned with two eye-catching L-shaped LED strips facing each other.
The 2024 Mitsubishi Triton has an upgraded cabin that features improved features and material quality. The car is equipped with a new instrument cluster and a 9-inch floating infotainment screen.
Under the hood is a new 2.4L 4-cylinder 4N16 engine that produces more power than the previous 4N15 engine. The new diesel engine now has a power output of 204 PS and a peak torque of 470 Nm in the highest variant. Meanwhile, the mid-range variants produce 184 PS of power and 430 Nm of torque. For the base versions, the engine delivers 150 PS of power and 330 Nm of torque.
2024 Ford Ranger Stormtrak
Another highly anticipated pickup truck that users in Vietnam are looking forward to is the 2024 Ford Ranger Stormtrak. This model has been confirmed by Ford Vietnam to be launching soon. It is highly likely that the Ranger Stormtrak will be the highest variant of the Ranger lineup in Vietnam, excluding the Ranger Raptor.
Prior to this, the Ford Ranger Stormtrak was introduced at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2023. Serving as a bridge between the already powerful Wildtrak and the high-performance Raptor, the Ranger Stormtrak is basically a sportier version of the Ranger Wildtrak but with more features, unique decals/emblems, and interior refinements.
In terms of exterior changes, Ford gives Stormtrak a unique black-colored grille along with auxiliary lights inside the grille (near the C-Clamp LED headlights). In addition, the car comes with distinctive body decals different from the Wildtrak and Raptor variants. These can be seen at the lower part of the doors and the rear panel.
To make Stormtrak stand out, it is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in larger 255/55/R20 tires. Aside from the special design, the wheels also have a red highlight, giving a sportier look.
The “heart” of the Ranger Stormtrak is a 2.0L bi-turbo diesel engine. Like the Wildtrak, this engine generates 210 PS of power and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The engine is combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
