The Ferrari 296 is a very special supercar made by the prancing horse brand since 2022, because it is the second commercial plug-in hybrid supercar after the SF90, the 296 is a two-seater car offered as a GTB which means coupe and GTS which is the convertible with a folding hardtop.

In fact, when the Ferrari 296 was launched and only after 1 year, the F8 also stopped production, making many car enthusiasts believe that this is the successful continuation of the petrol car series. The Ferrari 296 with its mid-rear engine layout, rear-wheel drive and its powertrain combines a 120-degree V6 twin-turbocharged engine with an electric motor mounted between the engine and the gearbox. The 296 can be driven in electric-only mode for short distances, to suit use in emission-free zones in urban areas.

Ferrari 296 in Vietnam

Under the pressure of reducing emissions to the environment and then moving to electric cars, many famous car manufacturers with powerful engines such as Lamborghini and Ferrari have had to compete in this game.

SF90 is Ferrari’s experiment with a price twice as high as other cars in the same house and only ranks behind the brand’s hypercars, so Ferrari decided to create a petrol-hybrid supercar at a reasonable price. Ferrari 296 was introduced as “the first real Ferrari with 6-cylinders” on June 24, 2021.

Quickly after 1 year, the first Ferrari 296 supercar has arrived in Vietnam based on an order from a customer from Hanoi, a young person but has achieved success quite early, he chose the Ferrari 296 GTB to experience his favorite brand’s plug-in hybrid supercar.

Interesting things about the first Ferrari 296 GTB in Vietnam

The customer from Hanoi chose the Giallo Modena paint color for his Ferrari 296 GTB supercar, speaking of this color code, it is only the second famous color after the traditional Rosso Corsa red color. Accompanying the yellow color are many details painted in matte black, shiny black mirror caps and a set of double spoke wheels as well.

Finally, the roof part is painted in shiny black, which is very suitable for the shiny yellow paint job of this Ferrari 296 GTB supercar.

Entering the cockpit, many people will be quite surprised because the interior of the car is equipped with many toys compared to the exterior, first of all, carbon fiber is seen quite a lot inside the car, from the door sill, trim panels, steering wheel to the central console.

The seats of the car are of the standard type, allowing the owner to be comfortable on long trips, instead of choosing carbon seats, which will be very tiring for the back.

The car’s powertrain

The Ferrari 296 GTB uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 2.9-liter V6 petrol engine. This also marks the return of the V6 engine after 5 decades of absence. The internal combustion engine produces a maximum power of 654 horsepower and a maximum torque of 425 Nm, while the electric motor adds a maximum power of 164 horsepower and 315 Nm. The plug-in hybrid powertrain will give the Ferrari 296 GTB supercar a total output of 818 horsepower and a maximum torque of 740 Nm.

The Ferrari 296 GTB can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 330 km/h. The plug-in hybrid car can travel up to a maximum distance of 25 km and a maximum speed of 135 km/h using the electric motor only.

There are 2 features on the Ferrari 296 GTB that many people discover, namely eManettino and Manettino. While Manettino is considered revolutionary and indispensable on Ferrari cars from the F430 onwards, eManettino represents modernity and the new electrified life more, because it is only applied to modern PHEV cars like SF90 or 296.

Manettino is used to adjust familiar features on Ferrari supercars such as standard, sport, race, CT off and finally ESC off. Meanwhile, eManettino has 4 modes, the first is eDrive, when the internal combustion engine is turned off, the electric system completely drives the rear wheels, at this time, the car can travel a distance of 25 km at a maximum speed of 135 km/h for 1 full charge.

Below is the H (hybrid) button, which is the default mode when the car starts and then the customer is allowed to choose 1 of the remaining 3 modes. When driving in hybrid mode, at this time, the car’s energy source will be managed to achieve maximum efficiency when combined with the internal combustion engine. When the engine is turned on, the car will unleash its maximum power and performance.

If you don’t like the above mode and want your 296 GTB to be a purebred Ferrari car, please click on the Performance mode, at this time, the internal combustion engine always operates and helps maintain the battery’s performance to ensure that there is always enough energy. This is the ideal mode for the car to always be ready for the fastest acceleration.

Maximum performance but with less charge on battery, the bumpy New Side Slip Control (SSC) system along with a second device based on electric power steering ensures that the control intervenes accurately based on road grip conditions, or bravely clicking on the last mode, Qualify, will give you the most thrilling driving experience possible.
