The Porsche Macan 2024 is a completely new model and for the first time it becomes a fully electric vehicle. Porsche has previously produced other electric models, but this is the first model in the lineup to completely transition from an internal combustion engine to pure electric.
From a design perspective, the new Macan EV still carries the overall design elements of Porsche in general and the Macan line in particular. Of course, this model has been developed a bit further as it uses Porsche’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform, which is shared with the Audi Q6 e-Tron.
The Porsche Macan EV has an overall length of 4,786 mm, which is 58 mm longer than the internal combustion engine Macan. The Macan EV is also taller by 76.2 mm and wider by 224 mm.
The Porsche Macan EV has a sloping roofline like a coupe and wide fender flares that conceal the electric platform.
The front of the car does not have a radiator grille but instead features a wide central air vent on the front bumper. The car is equipped with a two-tier headlight system with four LED daytime running lights positioned above. Below are the main headlights housed deep in the wide air intake.
At the rear, the Macan EV features a horizontal taillight cluster that spans the entire width of the car’s rear. In addition, the car has a rear bumper with faux air vents in black, giving it a sportier and more muscular look.
The larger size allows the new Macan EV to have a more spacious interior. Rear passengers now have more legroom and the new Macan models also have a larger cargo capacity than the versions with internal combustion engines.
In this upgrade, the interior of the Macan EV follows the trend of multiple screens like the Cayenne and Panamera models. On the instrument panel, there are three different screens, including a 12.6-inch digital gauge cluster, a 10.9-inch center touchscreen, and a 10.9-inch entertainment screen for front passengers.
Each Macan EV is equipped with all-wheel drive thanks to electric motors placed on each axle. They are powered by a 100 kWh 800-volt battery pack that has been updated in design and chemistry compared to the Taycan. The integrated battery management system allows for DC charging of up to 270 kW. The car can charge from 10-80% in just 21 minutes. Both the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo are expected to have an estimated range of about 483 km.
Speed is synonymous with both Porsche and electric vehicles naturally, and the Macan doesn’t go against that trend. At launch, the Macan EV has 2 versions: Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, and more versions will be added later. The base Macan 4 generates 402 horsepower and 648 Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 219 km/h.
On the other hand, the Macan Turbo has a maximum output of 630 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,128 Nm. This impressive power allows the car to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in just 3.1 seconds before reaching a top speed of 259 km/h. Thus, the new Macan Turbo is faster than the 502-horsepower 911 GT3.
In terms of pricing, the base Macan 4 starts at $78,800, excluding a $1,650 delivery fee, while the Macan Turbo starts at $105,300, also excluding a delivery fee.
