The world’s first 5G eBike, using AI to ensure rider safety.
Orbic, a US-based connectivity systems company and “a global leader in sustainable electronic innovation,” introduced the 5G eBike to the world through the 2024 Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024) held in Barcelona, Spain.
According to the manufacturer, the eBike 5G uses AI to ensure rider safety and boasts expanded connectivity and enhanced rider experience. This unique electric bicycle is equipped with a 64MP front camera, a 2MP rear camera, and an 8MP camera mounted above the 7-inch touch screen display. Each camera serves a specific purpose.
Specifically, the front camera allows cyclists to capture photos or live stream the scene ahead, while the rear camera enables the bike’s computer system to detect approaching vehicles and flash alerts on the screen. The camera above the display is directed towards the rider’s face and supports video calls, warns of potential dangers, and displays statistics such as battery level, speed, distance, and PAS (Pedal Assist System) on the touch screen.
Moreover, the eBike 5G can also function as a hotspot wherever needed and can connect with other bikes to form a community.
The 5G electric bike has a maximum speed of 45 km/h. It features fat tires, a mid-mounted motor, a battery placed inside the frame, and front suspension.
According to the plan, the eBike 5G will start shipping in late Q2/2024. However, the company is still considering pricing based on the market and shipping partners.
