Toyota Vietnam has issued a recall announcement for 4 models to address and resolve operation-related issues.
The Japanese carmaker has launched 2 recall programs, including one called the customer satisfaction program.
The Veloz Cross is the most affected model with about 20,000 units, while the Raize model impacts nearly 2,000 units.
Nearly 26,000 cars at risk of loosened shock absorber brackets
The Veloz Cross, Avanza Premio, and Yaris Cross models are subject to recall due to a potential loss of effectiveness in the front suspension caused by loose and fallen shock absorber brackets. A total of 25,971 units are affected.
The affected models include both imported and domestically assembled vehicles. The majority are imported models with 19,330 units, while domestically assembled vehicles account for 6,641 units.
The cause of this issue lies in the inadequate tightening force of the brackets. During usage, loose brackets will result in abnormal noise. If the brackets fall off, the vehicle will lose stability during operation.
The recalled imported models were produced from January 2022 to October 2022 (Veloz Cross, Avanza Premio), while the Yaris Cross model was produced from June 2023 to August 2023. For domestically assembled vehicles, the manufacturing period with the identified design flaw is from November 2022 to August 2023.
Over 6,000 cars require replacement of front brake dust caps
In addition to the suspension-related issue, Toyota Vietnam is also implementing a program to replace the front brake dust caps. The imported models included in the replacement program are Veloz Cross, Avanza Premio, and Raize.
A total of 6,368 cars are eligible for the replacement of brake dust caps. Veloz Cross has the highest number with 3,710 units, while Avanza Premio has the lowest number with 710 units.
The brake dust caps on these models may be damaged during assembly, resulting in reduced or ineffective dust and dirt protection. If water enters the dust caps, it may cause premature wear of the brake system.
Toyota Vietnam states that customers with affected vehicles will receive notifications from authorized dealerships.
All costs for inspection and remedial measures related to the recalls will be covered by Toyota Vietnam. The estimated repair time is 0.5-2.5 hours for the bracket issue and 1.3-2.4 hours for the dust cap replacement.
