According to the plan, Kia will officially introduce the large-size electric car EV9 in the Southeast Asian market at the end of this March.
Accordingly, the car will be sold in two versions: the EV9 Earth Long Range and EV9 GT-Line AWD, with prices of $97,600 (2.4 billion VND) and $108,800 (2.68 billion VND) respectively.
The 2024 Kia EV9 is developed based on the dedicated E-GMP platform for electric vehicles by Hyundai Group, similar to Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Hyundai Ioniq 6. The car has dimensions of 4,930 mm in length, 2,055 mm in width, 1,790 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,100 mm.
The electric SUV of the Korean brand impresses with its bold yet premium exterior design, following the Opposites United design philosophy. The front of the car does not have a grille because it is an electric vehicle. However, the central area of the front still has a “tiger nose” grille-like design characteristic of Kia.
On both sides of this area are large-sized vertically arranged LED headlights with small lenses inside. Surrounding the headlight cluster is a daytime running LED light strip with a star map-inspired design.
The 2024 Kia EV9 also has 2 silver accents located horizontally on the front. One strip is placed just below the Kia logo while the other strip is located on the front bumper. Next is the sporty ribbed hood, wide center air vent, and silver-colored faux skid plate on the front bumper.
The sides of the car are designed with muscular lines and highlighted by sharp raised lines. In addition, this large-sized pure electric SUV is equipped with a straight roof, distinctive D-pillars, and flush door handles.
The electric SUV is equipped with 21-inch black 4-spoke wheels, which are quite stylish.
At the rear, the 2024 Kia EV9 impresses with a vertically arranged taillight cluster that wraps around the 2 corners of the car and extends onto the rear windshield. The trunk door is also designed with two horizontal strip lights combined, making the rear of the car look sleeker and more modern. The rear bumper also has a silver-colored faux skid plate similar to the front bumper.
As for the interior, the cabin space of the car is designed in a minimalist yet modern direction.
The car is equipped with a range of amenities such as: a pair of 12.3-inch screens, one for the instrument cluster and one for entertainment. In addition, the central control panel has an additional 5.3-inch screen for the air conditioning system, wireless phone charging, interior lighting system, 8-speaker audio system, and digital key technology.
The EV9 Earth Long Range is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor with a power output of 201 horsepower and torque of 350 Nm. According to test results, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds.
Meanwhile, the GT-Line AWD version is equipped with 2 electric motors, one mounted on each axle, producing a power output of 378 horsepower and torque of 600 Nm, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds.
The 2024 Kia EV9 has a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 99.8 kWh, providing a driving range of 680 km for the Earth Long Range version and 647 km for the GT-Line AWD version. The battery is developed based on 800 V technology and comes with a 10.5 kW AC charger or a fast DC charger of 350 kW, which can charge the battery from 30% to 80% in about 20 minutes.
It is expected that the Kia EV9 will be introduced to Southeast Asian consumers through the Bangkok Auto Show, which will take place in Thailand from March 27th to April 7th.
