At the recent Geneva Motor Show 2024, French brand Renault officially unveiled the affordable electric car model 5 E-Tech 2024.

Expected to be released in September this year, Renault 5 E-Tech 2024 will have a starting price of about 25,000 euros (equivalent to 666 million VND), the cheapest in the European market.

At this price, Renault 5 E-Tech will directly compete with Chinese rivals such as the BYD Dolphin. Renault’s competitive pricing marks a major step forward in price and market share competition in the electric car market in Europe.

Renault 5 E-Tech 2024 is developed by Renault’s electric vehicle brand Ampere. This affordable car has the dimensions of D x W x H are respectively 3,920 x 1,770 x 1,500 (mm) with a wheelbase of 2,540 mm.

Renault 5 E-Tech inherits the design from the classic Renault 5 1972 as well as the 2021 concept version. A notable highlight on the exterior of the car is the graphic panel placed above the hood. This detail is inspired by the unique air intakes on the original Renault 5 1972.

It can illuminate when the car is charging and display the battery charge level. When the battery is full, the LED screen will display the number 5.

In terms of interior, R5 E-Tech 2024 owns a modern yet slightly classic cockpit with a range of utilities such as: 10.1 inch touch screen; digital instrument cluster; OpenR Link infotainment system developed by Google, supports over 50 applications and services along with the new AI digital assistant called “Reno”.

Renault 5 E-Tech is also highly regarded for its design and environmental protection. With the use of recycled materials for the seats and bio-based materials for the steering wheel and interior soundproofing layer, this car demonstrates its commitment to environmental protection.

Providing power for Renault 5 E-Tech is a single electric motor with three power ratings of 94 horsepower, 121 horsepower, or 148 horsepower. The battery pack has a capacity of 40 kWh or 52 kWh.

The 52 kWh battery provides a range of 400 km per charge (according to WLTP standard). The battery is compatible with fast charging DC at 80 kW and 100 kW respectively. At the same time, this hatchback can also power peripheral devices.

Renault 5 E-Tech supports AC 11kW charging and fast DC charging up to 100 kW (80 kW for the shorter range version), taking only 30 minutes to charge from 15% – 80% battery.

Renault states that the car is equipped with a rear multi-link suspension system similar to luxury cars, ensuring good road holding ability and exceeding expectations in the high-rise urban car segment.
