Skoda has confirmed that they are researching a new SUV model for the Indian market and will launch it in the first half of 2025. This yet-to-be-named model will have an overall length of less than 4 meters and will serve as an entry-level SUV for India.

Skoda has been considering offering a smaller SUV since 2021, but this is the first official confirmation. This new model will be Skoda’s third model developed specifically for the Indian market, following the Kushaq SUV and the Slavia sedan.

The confirmation announcement comes with a sketch focusing on the front of the upcoming model. The slim LED headlights are reminiscent of the Skoda Kamiq in Europe, but the front bumper has a larger air intake. We can also see the sharp lines of the hood and the roof rails, which are characteristic design features of many SUV models.

The new SUV will be developed on the MQB-A0-IN platform, a cheaper version of the MQB platform developed by the VW Group for emerging markets. This means that the car will share its platform with the Skoda Slavia/Kushaq and VW Virtus/Taigun, although it will be smaller in size. The aforementioned models will be available with a 1.0L and 1.5L petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG, only offered in FWD. With a length of less than 4 meters, this SUV will be the smallest product in Skoda’s global product portfolio.

The name of the new model will be decided later this year as part of the #NameYourSkoda campaign on social media. Customers in India will choose one of the 7 registered names, including Kymaq, Kariq, KwIQ, Kylaq, and Kyroq. As you can see, all options start with K and end with Q, in line with Skoda’s global SUV naming strategy.
