According to Korean media, at the end of February 2024, the number of Kia Sorento cars sold in the domestic market reached 8,671 units, continuing to lead the SUV segment. The surprising thing is that the Kia Carnival took second place with sales of 7,989 units. Meanwhile, the 5th generation Santa Fe from Hyundai sold 7,413 units and is now facing a new competitor, the upgraded Carnival model.

Previously, in January 2024, the Kia Sorento also held the top position in the segment with sales of over 9,200 units. The Hyundai Santa Fe ranked second with 8,016 units sold, followed by the Kia Carnival with 7,049 units delivered to customers in South Korea. It can be seen that the race for the top sales between the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe is extremely intense.

Hyundai Motor launched the 5th generation Santa Fe in August 2023 and initially only sold this SUV model in the domestic market with petrol engine variants. In the first two months of the new Santa Fe’s launch, the hybrid version was still not available, which made the new generation model not really create a “fever”.

However, starting from October 2023, the new Santa Fe was supplemented with a hybrid variant, significantly increasing the sales of this model in South Korea. Specifically, the number of new generation Santa Fe cars sold in October reached 7,946 units, an increase of 3,617 units compared to the previous month of September. Among them, 4,669 units were hybrid cars, accounting for 58.7%.

Kia also launched an upgraded version of the 4th generation Sorento in August 2023 and started selling it extensively. Kia Sorento is a very popular SUV and has been the best-selling model in South Korea for the past 3 years.

In October, the new Sorento continued to top the domestic car sales with 8,777 units sold, but decreased by more than 1,400 units compared to September. Among them, the sales of the hybrid version accounted for 65.9%, reaching 5,786 units.

Hopefully, the new versions of these two models will soon be brought to the Vietnamese market.
