Amidst a wave of discounted prices for cars, MG dealerships are also making moves to find customers. One of their promotions is for the RX5 model.

Specifically, a dealership in Hanoi is currently offering a cash discount of 100 million VND for the RX5. Additionally, they are also giving away a 20 million VND physical insurance package to customers who purchase this compact SUV. In total, the total value of MG RX5’s discounts at the dealership is 120 million VND.

The MG RX5 is priced at 739 million VND for the STD version and 829 million VND for the LUX version in Vietnam. Besides the brand’s disadvantage and the prejudice of Vietnamese consumers towards Chinese cars, this model also has a relatively uncompetitive price in the compact SUV segment.

In addition, the MG RX5 also faces competition from its own sibling in the same brand and segment, the HS. Returning to the Vietnamese market in late January 2024, the upgraded MG HS has prices ranging from 699 to 749 million VND, much cheaper than the RX5.

Introduced in Vietnam in September 2023, the MG RX5 has to face strong competitors like the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Territory, and Honda CR-V. This MG vehicle has a youthful and personality-filled exterior design. It also comes with exterior features such as LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, power tailgate, and electrically adjustable/foldable/heated mirrors with integrated turn signals.

MG RX5 competes in a segment with many strong rivals in Vietnam.

The interior of the MG RX5 is also well-equipped with leather seats, a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.1-inch vertical touchscreen, a sunroof, electronic parking brake, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 6-speaker sound system, and wireless phone charging.

However, the MG RX5 falls behind its competitors in terms of advanced driving assistance features (ADAS). Instead, the vehicle only has basic safety features such as 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, cruise control, front/rear parking sensors, tire pressure sensors, ABS with EBD, brake assist, electronic stability control, rollover prevention, hill start assist, and hill descent control.

The MG RX5 is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine, producing a maximum power of 168 horsepower and a peak torque of 275 Nm. This engine is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
