Yesterday, on March 6, 2024, the Program of the Car of the Year 2024 officially began. The program will run from March 6, 2024, until March 29, 2024. Meanwhile, the voting period for consumers will be from March 6, 2024, until March 16, 2024.
This year’s program has many new changes in scoring and selection. This year, the participating cars will have a price of less than 3 billion VND, suitable for the majority of consumers in the country. At the same time, the segments will also be divided based on the sales price with clear forms such as: Low ground cars (sedan, hatchback, ground clearance below 160 mm); High ground cars (CUV, SUV, MPV); and Pickup Trucks.

In parallel with the complete change in car segments as well as voting based on Editions instead of Models, the scoring criteria have also been adjusted (on a 10-point scale/criteria) to suit market trends. The 8 scoring criteria for the Car of the Year 2024 program are:
- Exterior design
- Interior design and materials
- Performance and driving experience
- Safety
- Energy efficiency and environment
- Total cost of ownership (TCO)
- Comfort and convenience
- Innovation and creativity
This is the 4th year of this program. The program will be carried out in 2 stages:
– Stage 1 (March 6-16, 2024): Consumers vote for the top 3 cars in each segment, as well as choose the Car of the Year based on the list of cars launched in 2023. At the same time, the Judging Panel will also vote for the top 3 cars in each segment. From the top 3 chosen by consumers and the Judging Panel, according to the regulations, the Organizing Committee will select the top car in each segment with a 50:50 ratio.
– Stage 2 (March 18-20, 2024): The Judging Panel scores the cars launched in 2023 and topping the segment in Stage 1 (this list may include the candidates for Car of the Year 2024 who are not top 1 in the segment). After referring to the results of consumers in Stage 1, the Organizing Committee will announce the final results based on the total scores.
The Judging Panel consists of 35 members, including representatives from media agencies, training institutions in the automotive industry, government agencies, the Steering Committees of the Otofun – Otosaigon forum, and administrators of many car clubs nationwide.
The announcement ceremony of the results will take place on March 29 in Hanoi.
