BMW Motorrad R 18 Roctane can be seen as the fifth member of the R 18 family, with an iconic Bagger-style design. BMW says the Roctane version is heavily influenced by the R 5 with its double-loop frame, pear-shaped fuel tank, and shaft drive reminiscent of the 1936 bike.
In other areas, the 2024 BMW Motorrad R 18 Roctane features LED lights, spoked wheels, and a rear grab handle inspired by the R 5, connected by alloy wheels measuring 21 inches in the front and 18 inches in the rear.
The seating position of the Roctane provides a comfortable, two-tiered saddle. The bike also has a minimalistic instrument panel with the old-style “Berlin Build” lettering. The color-matched storage compartments can hold up to 27 liters. Other equipped accessories include a windscreen, auxiliary lights, and heated grips.
Aside from its classic design, the 2024 BMW Motorrad R 18 Roctane boasts a non-adjustable, telelever front suspension. The bike features automatic stability control, engine drag torque control, and three riding modes: Rain, Rock, and Roll. Buyers can also opt for features like hill start control and reverse assist.
The power of the new BMW Motorrad R 18 Roctane comes from a 1.8L (equivalent to 1,802cc) 2-cylinder engine that produces 90 horsepower and 158 Nm of torque. The engine is painted in Avus black and has a glossy black exterior as well as dark chrome-plated exhaust pipes.
The engine is connected to a 6-speed transmission, allowing the bike to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 180 km/h. In the US market, the BMW R 18 Roctane has a price range from $18,695 to $19,590.
In the Vietnamese market, there are currently BMW R 18 models with prices starting from 886 million VND, including: BMW R 18 Base, BMW R 18 Classic, BMW R 18 Bagger, and BMW R 18 Transcontinental. The R 18 Roctane model is expected to be available in Vietnam in the near future.
