Mitsubishi Thailand has announced that it will introduce the Xpander HEV and Xpander Cross HEV on February 1. This is considered the most significant upgrade of this MPV model.
Based on the released images, the new Mitsubishi Xpander will feature blue highlights on its body – a design language commonly seen on most hybrid models in the market. Additionally, this blue color can also be found on the alloy wheels.
Mitsubishi Thailand has only revealed the exterior images, so it is likely that the Xpander Hybrid will retain the familiar interior design of the current model with only minor tweaks to accommodate the new powertrain.
The powertrain of the Xpander HEV is said to be a Full Hybrid, which means the vehicle will be capable of pure electric operation in certain conditions.
Currently, the Xpander is equipped with a 1.5L engine producing 104 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. Depending on the market, the Xpander is available with either a 4-speed automatic or a CVT.
The most recent upgrade for the Mitsubishi Xpander was in late 2021. Introducing a hybrid powertrain to this model is expected to further increase its competitiveness against rivals.
