After the journey from Vietnam to China, the first Porsche 911 Dakar has returned to our country, another Saigon entrepreneur recently took the wheel of the 911 Dakar in a month-long journey across Vietnam.
This is the third Porsche 911 Dakar to come to Vietnam, appearing in our country since mid-December 2023. The owner of the car also owns an Aston Martin DB11 worth over VND 13 billion. He is a famous person who owns a Youtube channel with over 775,000 followers, and is also a reputable expert in the financial sector.
The cross-country journey of the 911 Dakar and its owner started in Ho Chi Minh City in mid-February 2024. After that, the off-road sports car had two other 911s accompanying it from the Porsche club. After many days of traveling and stopping in several provinces to sightsee, the Saigon entrepreneur ended his trip in Hanoi.
Also in 2024, he will participate in a 35,000 km cross-continental journey from Asia to Europe with the Porsche 911 Dakar. This journey starts in Vietnam and is expected to pass through countries and territories such as China, Mongolia, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Czech, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland, France, and ends in Germany.
Unlike the previous two 911 Dakar cars that came to Vietnam in gray and blue, this car stands out with a white exterior paint. This paint color option is one of the two standard colors of the German brand.
Accompanying the white exterior are many black details or black decal stickers on the body, creating highlights. The rear spoiler, rear/front diffuser, side skirts, and wheel arches are all made of black painted plastic, reinforced with carbon fiber.
The car uses a single 5-spoke wheel set with a classic style, black color and highlighted by white accents on the rims. It is eye-catching with red brake calipers. The set of tires of the car belongs to the all-terrain Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus, 9 mm deep zigzag pattern and the tire wall is reinforced with 2 layers of steel for comfortable travel in various terrains.
Upon arrival in Vietnam, the car did not have a luggage rack on the roof. After that, the owner installed it to serve for carrying necessary items or spare tires when used in long trips.
The adaptive suspension system (PASM) specifically for this Dakar version raises the ground clearance of the car by 50 mm compared to the 911 Carrera model with the sports suspension system. The driver can adjust the lifting/lowering system as desired, but at speeds equal to or less than 170 km/h, this system can raise the ground clearance up to a maximum of 191 mm – equivalent to some crossover/SUV models.
The Porsche 911 Dakar was launched globally from the end of 2022. In reality, this is the off-road version of the 911, developed from the prototype 911 Carrera 4 GTS and to commemorate the German automaker’s first overall victory in the Paris-Dakar race in 1984. Only 2,500 units were produced worldwide, and Vietnam is only allocated 3 cars.
The Porsche 911 Dakar is equipped with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine, delivering a maximum output of 473 horsepower and maximum torque of 570 Nm. This off-road sports car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and reach a electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h. The car comes with an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission and the all-wheel drive AWD system of Porsche.
In Vietnam, the Porsche 911 Dakar has a starting price of VND 15.3 billion (excluding accessories and additional equipment) from the official distributor. After completing the registration, the owner of the car has to spend more than VND 17 billion to own this off-road sports car. However, two of the three 911 Dakar cars in Vietnam have participated in cross-continental journeys, making many people admire them.
