In February 2024, the Vietnamese automobile market experienced a significant decline in sales, with most car models witnessing a decrease in sales. The top 10 best-selling car models in the market surprised us with the appearance of certain models such as the Honda HR-V and Kia Carnival. Meanwhile, the top 10 poorest-selling car models in the market also saw the inclusion of rare names like the Kia Rondo, Kia K5, and Mazda6.

In the past month, several car models had zero sales, including the Mazda BT-50, Suzuki Ciaz, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, and Suzuki Jimny. Therefore, these car models will not be included in the list of the top 10 poorest-selling cars in Vietnam in February 2024.

List of the top 10 poorest-selling cars in Vietnam in February 2024 (unit: cars)

The two poorest-selling car models in the Vietnamese market during the past month were the Kia Rondo and Toyota Yaris. Both of these models had sales of only one car. It is surprising that the Kia Rondo made it to the list as it did not generate any sales throughout the year 2023. Currently, the Kia Rondo has been discontinued in Vietnam and has been replaced by its sibling, the Carens. The Kia Rondo sold in February 2024 was only existing stock at dealerships.

The Kia Rondo unexpectedly made it to the top 10 poorest-selling cars in Vietnam in February 2024

As for the Toyota Yaris, this car model is also being cleared from dealerships’ remaining inventory. According to previous information, the Toyota Yaris in Vietnam will be replaced by the Yaris Cross due to its unsatisfactory sales performance.

The second position in the top 10 belongs to the Toyota Alphard with sales of only 5 cars. The appearance of this luxury MPV in the top 10 is not surprising. With a price of over 4 billion VND, the Toyota Alphard is not a model for the general public.

In third place is the mid-size SUV Isuzu mu-X with exactly 6 cars sold. This is also a familiar name in the list of the poorest-selling car models in the Vietnamese market every month.

Right behind the mu-X is its sibling, the Isuzu D-Max. This pickup truck model only sold 11 cars to Vietnamese customers during the Lunar New Year month. Similar to the mu-X, the Isuzu D-Max is a familiar face in this list of the poorest-selling cars.

Next is the Honda Accord with sales of only 12 cars. Not only on the list of the poorest-selling cars in the market, but the Honda Accord also ranks last in the D-segment sedan market in Vietnam in terms of sales due to its high price and limited variants. However, compared to January 2021, this D-segment sedan has shown sales growth.

The sixth position belongs to the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport with sales of only 13 cars. This is also a rare appearance of this car model in the top 10 poorest-selling cars in the market.

The next two positions belong to D-segment sedans, the Kia K5 and Mazda6. The sales figures for these two models are 16 cars and 18 cars, respectively. The presence of these two sedans in the top 10 poorest-selling cars of the month is quite surprising.

The Kia K5 is one of the three D-segment sedans featured in the top 10 alongside the Honda Accord and Mazda6

Sharing the ninth position are the Kia Soluto and Toyota Land Cruiser, both with sales figures of 19 cars. Similar to the Alphard, the Toyota Land Cruiser is not a high-selling model in Vietnam due to its price of over 4 billion VND and additional costs at dealerships. In contrast, the Kia Soluto is an affordable B-segment sedan. However, it seems that the low price cannot compensate for the less desirable design and equipment of the Kia Soluto.

The last car model in the top 10 is the Toyota Innova Cross with sales of only 24 cars. This vehicle made it to the list not because of poor sales but due to limited supply. It is known that the supply of Toyota Innova Cross at dealerships is currently quite limited, resulting in low sales figures.

Looking at the Vietnamese car market right now and humorously comparing it, we will see Camry as a well-behaved young girl, not outstanding in every aspect but easily becoming the choice of the “other half”.
