Hybrid Ferrari 296 GTB – Owner Gives it a Stylish Makeover

The original Ferrari 296 GTB supercar comes in a mouse gray color, but its owner has now given it a new look with custom decals featuring yellow stripes running from the front to the rear of the car, similar to the Assetto Fiorano package offered by the Italian carmaker for its customers.

The Ferrari 296 GTB is a plug-in hybrid supercar that combines a gasoline engine with an electric motor. This is an important product for the Ferrari supercar brand before it fully transitions to electric vehicles. The number of Ferrari 296 GTB cars in Vietnam is also limited, with only 4 units available, including 2 yellow cars, 1 gray car, and 1 red car.

To refresh the exterior of the Ferrari 296 GTB in mouse gray color, a wealthy owner has decided to apply a decal set to the car, with a highlight of yellow stripes running from the front to the rear of the car, similar to the Assetto Fiorano package offered by the Italian automaker.

By adding this unique touch to the Ferrari 296 GTB, the owner has created a stunning and more eye-catching car, compared to the original mouse gray body color.

The Ferrari 296 GTB draws inspiration from the design of the 1960s 250 LM, alongside some similarities with the SF90 Stradale. The car features beautiful and distinctive headlights, with LED daytime running lights. The air intake for the headlights is the same design element applied by Ferrari for the 296 GTB.

Instead of the previous separate three-part design, the front air intake of the Ferrari 296 GTB now extends to the sides of the car, enhancing its sporty and aggressive look. The car’s side still features a large air intake, ensuring sufficient airflow to the engine compartment. The Ferrari 296 GTB has an electrically adjustable rear wing that generates up to 360 kg of downforce at a speed of 250 km/h.

The exhaust design of the 296 GTB is similar to that of an environmentally-friendly and stylish hybrid model compared to the SF90 Stradale, while the taillights evoke the four-seater Ferrari Roma. Ferrari offers two options for customers purchasing the 296 GTB: the standard version and the additional Assetto Fiorano package, as chosen by this wealthy client using a reflective decal.

Focusing more on the driving experience rather than touch controls and audio, the interior of Ferrari’s supercars follows a minimalist and elegant design philosophy, and the 296 GTB is no exception. You won’t find a large infotainment screen like what other supercar brands offer. Instead, there are two small screens, one positioned in the center and the other in front of the passenger seat, providing enough information for the driver to immerse in the driving experience, including speed, gear, and more.

The modern touch of Ferrari is evident in the large horizontal digital instrument cluster and the familiar steering wheel design, which resembles the SF90 Stradale, with touch-sensitive buttons and swipe controls. Starting the car only requires two touches on the touch-sensitive start/stop button or one tap and one horizontal swipe, awakening the sound of this powerful stallion. Adjusting driving modes or controlling basic settings on the screen behind the steering wheel is also touch-sensitive.

The Ferrari 296 GTB features a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 gasoline engine. This marks the return of the V6 engine after five decades of absence. The internal combustion engine produces a maximum output of 654 horsepower, while the electric motor adds an additional maximum output of 164 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid powertrain provides a total output of 818 horsepower and a maximum torque of 740 Nm.

The Ferrari 296 GTB accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 330 km/h. The plug-in hybrid car can travel up to 25 km solely on electric power, with a maximum speed of 135 km/h. The Ferrari 296 GTB still features the eManettino mode selector with driving modes such as eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify, along with familiar Manettino modes like Normal, Sport, Race, CT off, and ESC off.
