The third generation Honda HR-V has been on the market since 2021. Therefore, it is not surprising that Honda has released a minor upgrade version of this car in the Japanese market. In the land of the rising sun, the Honda HR-V is known as the Vezel.

Compared to the old version, the 2024 Honda HR-V only has slight changes in exterior design. It is now equipped with a square and more compact grille and a new front bumper.

Next is the rear lights with the overall design unchanged but the interior shape has been renewed. In addition, the rear lights of the Honda HR-V 2024 are now full LED, giving a more luxurious feel to this B-segment SUV.

The interior of the Honda HR-V 2024 doesn’t have many changes. The car only adds a new central control cluster, designed to be easier to use with a two-tier layout. In addition, the Honda Remote Operation system is added, allowing remote control of air conditioning, trunk opening/closing, and locating the car. The automatic map update, WiFi connectivity on the car, and digital key that allows opening/locking the door using a smartphone are also equipped for this B-segment SUV.

In the Japanese market, the 2024 Honda HR-V has 3 versions: G, e:HEV X, and e:HEV Z. The highest-end version will have features such as full LED headlights/taillights, LED daytime running lights, automatic on/off headlights, automatic high/low beam adjustment, sequential LED turn signals, hands-free power tailgate, 18-inch alloy wheels, front seat/steering wheel heating, and fabric/nappa leather seats.

The e:HEV X and e:HEV Z versions will have 2 official accessory packages named HuNT Package and PLaY Package. The HuNT Package for the e:HEV X version includes highlights in matte orange on the front bumper, roof rails, 16-inch gunmetal gray painted alloy wheels, and water/oil-resistant fabric seats. On the other hand, the PLaY Package will add new exterior/interior details, 2-tone paint, premium 10-speaker sound system, and Panorama sunroof for the e:HEV Z version.

In addition, Honda also offers exterior packages to help customers beautify their HR-V, including Casual Style, Urban Style, Sport Style, and Active Style. All 4 exterior packages add a sportier grille design and glossy black paint to the car.

Under the hood of the Honda HR-V 2024 in the Japanese market, there are still 2 engine options. The G version uses a naturally aspirated 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine with a maximum power of 118 horsepower and maximum torque of 142 Nm. The engine is paired with a CVT continuously variable transmission and 4WD drivetrain.

On the other hand, the e:HEV X and e:HEV Z versions use a hybrid powertrain, including a 1.5L Atkinson Cycle petrol engine, producing a maximum power of 106 horsepower and maximum torque of 127 Nm. This engine combines with 2 electric motors with a power output of 131 horsepower and maximum torque of 253 Nm. The e:HEV X and e:HEV Z versions will have both 1-wheel drive and 2-wheel drive systems.

Another highlight of the Honda HR-V 2024 in the Japanese market is the upgraded Honda Sensing active safety technology package. This package adds 3 new features: Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Headlights, and Minimizing Accidental Acceleration damage.

Other safety features such as collision mitigation brake system, sudden acceleration limit when going forward/reverse, collision avoidance steering assist for pedestrians, lane departure prevention, adaptive cruise control system, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, traffic sign recognition, automatic headlights, parking assist sensors, blind spot warning, and rear cross-traffic assist are also equipped for this car.

The price of the 2024 Honda HR-V in the Japanese market has not been announced yet. The car will be available for purchase this month and delivery is scheduled for next month.
