SUV C-segment Sales in February 2024 (units: vehicles)

Mazda CX-5: 600 units

In February 2024, Mazda sold 600 units of the CX-5 to Vietnamese customers. Compared to January 2024, sales of this model decreased by 25.6%. However, the Mazda CX-5 still maintains its position as the number one SUV in the C-segment. Additionally, this model also ranked fourth among the top 10 best-selling cars in the market in February 2024.

Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5 is highly regarded for its appealing design among Vietnamese consumers. In addition, the car is equipped with relatively complete convenience and safety features.

The Mazda CX-5 in Vietnam is currently available in two petrol engine options: 2.0L and 2.5L. Additionally, the car offers options of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD).

The reasonable price is also a significant advantage of the Mazda CX-5, ranging from 759 to 999 million VND. This makes it one of the most affordable C-segment SUVs in the Vietnamese market.

Ford Territory: 220 units

Similar to January 2024, the second-best-selling model in the C-segment SUV in terms of sales in February is the Ford Territory. With sales of 220 units, this American-made model witnessed a decline of 43.5%.

Ford Territory

Similar to its competitor, the Mazda CX-5, the Ford Territory has competitive advantages in terms of design, convenience, and safety features. Additionally, this C-segment SUV has a formidable exterior appearance and spacious interior.

The Ford Territory is equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, generating a maximum power output of 160 horsepower and a peak torque of 248 Nm. It is paired with a wet dual-clutch 7-speed automatic transmission.

In Vietnam, the Ford Territory is currently available in 3 versions with prices ranging from 822 to 954 million VND.

Honda CR-V: 161 units

The third position in the C-segment SUV continues to be held by the Honda CR-V. In February 2024, Honda sold 161 CR-Vs to Vietnamese customers, a decrease of 40.3%. Among them, there were 84 petrol-powered CR-Vs and 77 units of the hybrid version. This indicates the popularity of the hybrid version of this SUV despite the absence of official incentives.

Honda CR-V

In March 2024, Honda is offering 100% registration fee support for the 2023 production year CR-V (VIN 2023) in the G and L versions. Additionally, the G version also comes with an additional 30 million VND cash incentive, while the L version includes 1 year of body insurance. The total value of incentives for the G version is up to 141 million VND. This program promises to enhance the attractiveness of the Honda CR-V, which does not have a price advantage in the segment.

The Honda CR-V is currently the most expensive model in the segment, with prices ranging from 1,109 to 1,31 billion VND. However, the car boasts a square, sporty exterior design and relatively well-equipped convenience and safety features, not inferior to its competitors.

Particularly, the Honda CR-V is one of the rare hybrid SUVs in the C-segment in Vietnam, alongside the Haval H6. The hybrid version of the CR-V is equipped with a 2.0L petrol engine, generating 146 horsepower. The engine is combined with 2 electric motors with a total output power of 181 horsepower. Overall, the car has a total power of 204 horsepower and a peak torque of 335 Nm.

On the other hand, the petrol version of the CR-V is equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine with a maximum power output of 188 horsepower and a peak torque of 240 Nm. The engine is coupled with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive system.

Hyundai Tucson: 117 units

The Hyundai Tucson continues to hold the fourth position in terms of sales in the C-segment SUV, with 117 units. Compared to the previous month, the sales of this South Korean model have decreased by 44%.

Hyundai Tucson

The Hyundai Tucson is one of the leading models in terms of the wheelbase length, offering spacious interior. Additionally, it features stylish design and rich equipment.

Furthermore, the Hyundai Tucson offers 3 engine options, including a 2.0L Smartstream petrol engine, a 2.0L Smartstream diesel engine, and a 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine. The power output of the engines ranges from 156 to 180 horsepower and 192 to 416 Nm of torque. These engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The car is available with either a front-wheel drive or a 4-wheel HTRAC drive system, depending on the version.

The price of the Hyundai Tucson currently ranges from 799 to 959 million VND.

Kia Sportage: 72 units

The fifth-best-selling model in the C-segment SUV in terms of sales in February was the Kia Sportage. Specifically, the car achieved sales of 72 units, a 36.2% decrease.

Kia Sportage

Since its introduction to the Vietnamese market, the Kia Sportage has not achieved high sales figures. One possible reason might be the price of the car, ranging from 799 million to 1.019 billion VND. Additionally, the Kia Sportage uses the same 3 engine options as its sibling, the Hyundai Tucson.

In March 2024, the Kia Sportage is being offered with a 23 million VND discount for the 2.0G Premium version. This incentive amount is not particularly significant compared to competitors such as the Honda CR-V or Subaru Forester.

Mitsubishi Outlander: 27 units

The last-placed model in the C-segment SUV in terms of sales is the Mitsubishi Outlander. The car achieved sales of only 27 units, a 63% decrease compared to January 2024. This is also the model with the highest sales decline rate in the segment. Additionally, the Mitsubishi Outlander is one of the poorest-performing models in the market in the past month.

Mitsubishi Outlander

The Mitsubishi Outlander has not been upgraded in terms of design and equipment for a long time. Furthermore, the car’s convenience and safety features are inferior to those of its competitors in the segment. Therefore, it is not surprising that this model has achieved modest sales figures.

In March 2024, the Mitsubishi Outlander is being offered with a 50% registration fee discount and 1 year of body insurance for 2023 production year cars. For 2024 production year cars, the promotion includes a 360-degree panoramic camera worth 20 million VND.
