All versions of the Toyota Crown crossover are equipped with a hybrid drivetrain, as indicated by the Hybrid Synergy Drive badge on the rear. The hybrid system combines a naturally aspirated A25A-FXS 2.5L engine with 186 PS and 221 Nm of torque with an electric motor for a total output of 234 PS.
According to Paultan, the Crown crossover may be undergoing testing by UMW Toyota Motor – the Toyota distributor in Malaysia – before its official debut. Previously, UMW Toyota Motor also mentioned their intention to include more hybrid models in their product lineup.
The Toyota Crown is one of the longstanding models in the Japanese car brand’s history, originally known as a sedan exclusively for the Japanese market. However, starting from the 16th generation, the Crown has expanded to include various versions, including a crossover variant for the global market. With the appearance of the Toyota Crown crossover in Malaysia, it is highly likely that the vehicle will soon be introduced in Southeast Asia.
