C-segment Sedan Sales in February 2024 (units: cars)

Mazda3: 234 cars

In the past month, Vietnamese customers purchased 234 Mazda3 cars, a decrease of 41.2% compared to the previous month. However, this Japanese car model still maintains its position as the number one in the C-segment sedan market.

Mazda3

The attractiveness of the Mazda3 in this segment cannot be denied. It combines elements such as a beautiful design that suits Vietnamese tastes, full amenities, and safety features, all at an affordable price range of 579 – 739 million VND for 4 versions. Currently, it is one of the most affordable cars in the C-segment sedan market in Vietnam.

The Mazda3 is equipped with notable features such as LED lights from front to back, 16 – 18-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable/folding/auto-dimming/memory side mirrors, leather seats, power-adjustable/driver’s seat memory, an 8.8-inch touch screen center display, an 8-speaker audio system, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a head-up display, a sunroof, an electric parking brake, temporary brake hold, dual-zone automatic climate control, and auto-dimming rearview mirrors.

However, the engine of the Mazda3 is relatively weak compared to its competitors. This model uses a 1.5L SkyActiv-G 4-cylinder petrol engine with a maximum power of 110 horsepower and a peak torque of 146 Nm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission and the GVC Plus advanced acceleration control system.

Kia K3: 105 cars

Following the Mazda3 in terms of sales is the Kia K3. In the past month, this model sold 105 cars, a decrease of 40%.

Kia K3

As a Korean car, the Kia K3 has advantages such as an eye-catching design, a relatively rich range of amenities, and various engine options. However, this model does not have active safety features like its competitors.

The Kia K3 in Vietnam currently has 3 engine options. First is the 1.6L petrol engine with a maximum power of 126 horsepower and a peak torque of 155 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, depending on the version. Next is the 2.0L engine with a maximum power of 150 horsepower and a peak torque of 192 Nm, combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The third option is the turbocharged 1.6L petrol engine with a maximum power of 201 horsepower and a peak torque of 265 Nm, coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The price range of the Kia K3 is reasonable, ranging from 549 – 739 million VND for 5 versions. In March 2024, the car is being offered with discounts of 5-16 million VND, bringing the price of some premium versions below 600 million VND.

Hyundai Elantra: 76 cars

The third position in the C-segment sedan market belongs to another Korean car model, the Hyundai Elantra. In February 2024, Hyundai sold 76 Elantra cars to Vietnamese customers, a decrease of 50.2%.

Hyundai Elantra

Similar to the Kia K3, the Hyundai Elantra impresses with its design, well-equipped amenities, and 3 engine options. The car is equipped with a 1.6L Gamma II petrol engine, with a maximum power of 128 horsepower and a peak torque of 155 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. Next is the 2.0L Nu engine, producing a maximum power of 159 horsepower and a peak torque of 193 Nm, combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Lastly, there is a turbocharged 1.6L engine in the N-Line version, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and offering a maximum power of 204 horsepower and a torque of 265 Nm.

In addition, this model is equipped with amenities such as LED headlights, hands-free smart trunk, automatic wipers, sports-cut steering wheel, 10-way power-adjustable leather seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen center display, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, and 6 speakers.

The price range of the Hyundai Elantra currently ranges from 599 – 799 million VND for 4 versions.

Honda Civic: 42 cars

In the C-segment sedan market, the Honda Civic ranks behind the Hyundai Elantra, with sales of only 42 cars, a decrease of 67.4%. This is the model with the highest sales decline rate in the C-segment sedan market in the past month.

Honda Civic

The Honda Civic does not have the price advantage like its competitors. The price range of this model currently ranges from 730 – 870 million VND for 3 versions. In March 2024, this C-segment sedan continues to receive a 50% reduction in registration fees from the manufacturer.

Compensating for the high price of the Honda Civic is its attractive design, well-equipped amenities, and safety features. The car offers features such as leather seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen center display, wireless charging, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and ADAS active safety features included in the Honda Sensing package.

Notably, this model is highly praised for its driving experience and engine performance. The car uses a turbocharged petrol engine with a capacity of 1.5L, producing a maximum power of 178 horsepower and a peak torque of 240 Nm. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a front-wheel-drive system.

Toyota Corolla Altis: 36 cars

Similar to recent months, the Toyota Corolla Altis continues to be the worst-selling model in the C-segment sedan market, with sales of only 36 cars. Of these, 22 belong to the petrol version and 14 are hybrids. Compared to January 2024, sales of the Toyota Corolla Altis decreased by 26.5%.

Toyota Corolla Altis

In early October 2023, the Toyota Corolla Altis received a minor update. The new version of the car has additional features such as a 12.3-inch standard digital instrument cluster, automatically adjustable mirrors when reversing, blind-spot monitoring system (BSM), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), and a 360-degree camera.

Unfortunately, the engine of the car remains the same. The petrol version still uses a 1.8L engine, with a maximum power of 138 horsepower and a peak torque of 172 Nm. Meanwhile, the hybrid version is equipped with a 1.8L petrol engine and an electric motor, with a total power of 122 horsepower. Both versions come with a CVT and a front-wheel-drive system.

The price of the Toyota Corolla Altis has also slightly increased to a range of 725 – 870 million VND.
