Compared to the prototype seen in Sweden, this one has all its own parts like exterior mirrors, alloy wheels…
Although still being meticulously disguised, it seems that this test prototype is very close to the commercial version. It’s easy to notice that Kia EV3 has an exterior design inspired by the larger older brother Kia EV9. The similarity in appearance shows that Kia is not only expanding its electric vehicle (EV) lineup but also ensuring a cohesive design language across the entire product line.
Earlier, we had a glimpse of the interior of the Kia EV3. The car is equipped with a digital cockpit with dual screens and a minimalist design for the dashboard. We can also see a series of control buttons below the infotainment screen, the switches for controlling the air conditioning, and many other buttons on the center control cluster placed “in-coming”. Based on Kia’s strategy, we can expect the use of sustainable materials throughout the cabin.
Similar to all Hyundai and Kia electric models, the EV3 will be developed on the E-GMP platform. However, to cut costs, Kia may equip EV3 with 400V technology instead of the more expensive 800V technology found in its larger siblings. It is very likely that the base EV3 will have a single electric motor and a 58 kWh battery pack. In addition, it is likely that the car will also offer a premium GT version.
Kia has announced a target price range of $30,000 to $80,000 for pure electric models, with the EV3 expected to be priced lower. The car is likely to be launched as early as the first quarter of 2024. Competitors for the EV3 in Europe include the Peugeot E-2008 and Ford Puma-E.
