Similar to other small car segments, a decline in sales is also a common trend for A-segment cars in February 2024. However, there is still a bright spot in this segment, which is the Toyota Wigo with strong sales growth.

A-table of A-segment car sales in February 2024 (unit: cars)

Hyundai Grand i10: 263 cars

In February 2024, Hyundai Grand i10 achieved a sales figure of 263 cars, a decrease of 45.2% compared to the previous month. However, this Korean car model still leads the A-segment in terms of sales. In addition, the Grand i10 also made it into the top 10 best-selling car models in the Vietnamese market in the past month, ranking last. It is also the second best-selling Hyundai model, only behind the Accent.

Hyundai Grand i10

It is no exaggeration to say that Hyundai Grand i10 is the top choice when Vietnamese people need to buy an A-segment car. This model is popular thanks to its stylish design, adequate equipment, and affordable price, ranging from 360 – 455 million VND for 6 versions. Unlike its two segment rivals, this car model is available in both sedan and hatchback versions for consumers to choose from.

Notable features of this model include LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, fog lights, LED taillights, 14 – 15-inch wheels, power-folding/power-adjustable/turn signal-integrated mirrors, analog instrument cluster with a 5.3-inch TFT multi-information display, an 8-inch infotainment screen, leather seats, a 4-speaker sound system, and Cruise Control.

The Hyundai Grand i10 is powered by a 1.2L MPI gasoline engine, producing a maximum power of 83 horsepower and a maximum torque of 114 Nm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, depending on the version.

Toyota Wigo: 148 cars

Toyota Wigo is the only car model in the A-segment to increase sales in February 2024. Specifically, Toyota sold 148 Wigo cars to Vietnamese customers, a 76.1% increase. Unfortunately, although it had strong sales growth, Toyota Wigo still could not surpass its Korean competitor, the Hyundai Grand i10.

Toyota Wigo

Returning to the Vietnamese market in June 2023, the Toyota Wigo has a more modern design and a reasonable price, ranging from 360 – 405 million VND. In addition, this car model has the advantage of brand image and possesses rare safety features in its segment, such as the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) systems.

Furthermore, the Toyota Wigo is equipped with features such as LED headlights, power-folding/power-adjustable mirrors, 14-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen display, and a 4-speaker sound system.

The Toyota Wigo uses a new 1.2L gasoline engine, combined with a 5-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic transmission (D-CVT). This engine provides a maximum power of 87 horsepower and a maximum torque of 113 Nm.

Kia Morning: 41 cars

The last position in the A-segment cars still belongs to the Kia Morning. In the past month, this Korean car model achieved a sales figure of 41 cars, a 39.7% decrease compared to January 2024.

Kia Morning

The Kia Morning currently has 6 versions and a price range from 349 – 424 million VND, which is cheaper than the Hyundai Grand i10. However, this car model has less abundant equipment compared to its Korean rival. The Kia Morning is only equipped with Halogen headlights and lacks a cruise control system.

In addition, it also has other features such as LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, power-folding/power-adjustable mirrors, 14 – 15-inch wheels, an analog instrument cluster with a multi-information display, an 8-inch touchscreen, a 4 – 6-speaker sound system, and automatic air conditioning.

The “heart” of the Kia Morning is a 1.25L Kappa gasoline engine, producing a maximum power of 83 horsepower and a maximum torque of 120 Nm. The engine is paired with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission.
