The New York Auto Show 2024 will kick off next week and Hyundai will use this event to introduce the upgraded versions of Tucson and Santa Cruz. Both models will be unveiled on March 27, but we got a glimpse of the 2025 Tucson at its launch event in South Korea last November.
While Hyundai still keeps the specifications of the US version secret, the Korean variant receives design updates with a new grille and refined headlights. They are complemented by a new front bumper, faux skid plate, updated wheels, and revamped rear end.
The notable upgrades are focused inside the cabin where the 2025 Tucson impresses with a modern interior space, a new instrument cluster, and a panoramic curved display. The display is a combination of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The Korean version receives a new three-spoke steering wheel, upgraded gear lever, and modified center controls.
In the Korean market, the Tucson 2025 is equipped with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine generating 178 horsepower and a 2.0-liter diesel engine producing 181 horsepower. Besides the engines, the crossover also gets a hybrid variant, combining an electric motor with the 1.6-liter engine.
Meanwhile, there is limited information about the 2025 Santa Cruz but Hyundai says the vehicle will have a more rugged design with an updated interior featuring improved ergonomic features, a new infotainment system, and additional driver-assist systems.
Based on exterior shots, it can be seen that the Santa Cruz 2025 will have a wider and more rugged front grille. The headlights are also revised. While the current version’s headlights extend upwards, forming a V-shape, the upgraded version’s headlights are narrower, indicating that the grille will have a more rectangular shape compared to the current model.
In addition, the unilluminated portions of the grille are neatly arranged and appear larger. This indicates that Hyundai is trying to improve the front-end design of the Santa Cruz, making it look more boxy and resembling a pickup truck. Additionally, the vehicle is expected to receive a new set of wheels with a more impressive design.
With the updates for the new Tucson’s interior, it is highly likely that Hyundai’s pickup truck model will also receive the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment screen.
