Nissan has officially unveiled the all-new generation of its small crossover, the Kicks, with significant improvements in all aspects. This new version is larger and provides more space for passengers and cargo, while also being equipped with a more powerful engine and the option of AWD, which is a first for the Kicks lineup.
The 2025 Nissan Kicks is equipped with a new 2.0L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder gasoline engine, generating a maximum power of 139 horsepower and a peak torque of 190 Nm, an increase of 17 horsepower and 36 Nm compared to the previous 1.6L engine.
The engine is paired with Nissan’s Xtronic CVT automatic transmission and is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The optional AWD system is available on all trim levels. Combined with the “Snow” driving mode and a ground clearance of 213 mm, this crossover model enhances its off-road capabilities.
In the new generation, the 2025 Nissan Kicks features a boxier and more rugged exterior compared to its predecessor. Inspired by the Nissan Pathfinder for the Chinese market, the front end stands out with large integrated LED headlights on a black grille.
At the rear, the unique-shaped LED taillights perfectly complement the black trim, reminiscent of the taillights on the Alfa Romeo Milano with similar dimensions.
This small crossover measures 4,366 mm in length, 1,801 mm in width, and its height ranges from 1,626 to 1,631 mm. Interestingly, there is a slight change in wheelbase length, which measures 2,657 mm for the FWD version and 2,664 mm for the AWD version.
Compared to its predecessor, the 2025 Nissan Kicks is 71 mm longer, 41 mm wider, and 20 mm taller, providing a better driving experience and more spacious cabin.
The dashboard has a simple layout, with a digital instrument cluster and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Base trims feature a dual 7-inch display, while higher trims come with a larger 12.3-inch display. The car is equipped with touch-sensitive controls for the air conditioning system. Depending on the trim level, users can get up to 4 USB-C ports, wireless charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The 2025 Nissan Kicks is offered in three trim levels: S, SV, and SR. Additionally, buyers can choose from two Premium packages, which include features such as a panoramic sunroof and a Bose audio system with 10 speakers, including integrated headrest-mounted speakers.
All trim levels come standard with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 ADAS Suite, which includes Intelligent Cruise Control. The range-topping SR trim is equipped with a more advanced ProPILOT Assist system.
The 2025 Nissan Kicks is scheduled to be showcased at the 2024 New York Auto Show next week. The car will go on sale in the US in late summer, with pricing yet to be announced. However, based on the significant upgrades, it wouldn’t be surprising if the 2025 Nissan Kicks has a higher price tag than its predecessor, which had a starting price of $20,790.
