According to the sources, the new BMW X3 is expected to go into production from August and will continue to be offered with petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains.
Recent information shared on the Bimmerpost forum suggests the new X3 will be 4,755 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,660 mm tall, which would make it 40 mm longer and 30 mm wider than its predecessor (depending on the variant). The wheelbase will also grow by 1 mm to 2,865 mm. Standard boot space will be 570 liters and will increase to 1,700 liters with the second row of seats folded down.
Different powertrain options will be available depending on the market. Sources indicate the new X3 could be offered in 20d xDrive, 20 xDrive, 30e xDrive and M50 xDrive variants, while in the US, the next-gen X3 will get 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive grades. There will also be a BMW X3 M flagship, although specific details are yet to be revealed.
BMW is also working on a next-gen version of the fully electric iX3, but it will move to the Neue Klasse platform and will be more differentiated from its combustion-powered siblings.
When it makes the generational change, the BMW X3 is understood to be in line for a significant design overhaul, adopting a more upscale look than the outgoing model. For example, it will gain the Iconic Glow front kidney grille like the new 5 Series and its cabin will feature more premium materials. Driver assistance technologies are tipped to mirror those of the current model.
