Electric Motorcycle Company Earns Praise and Criticism, But Approach Resonates with Consumers

When a new product enters the market, it’s not uncommon to see the usual mix of supporters and detractors. However, it’s how a brand acknowledges and responds to such feedback that matters.

The electric motorbike market in Vietnam is increasingly vibrant with the presence of various large and small car manufacturers with many segments and new car lines being launched.

Taking a tour of the electric motorbike user groups, you can see the online community discussing and even arguing about the products and services of new vehicles launched in the market. Or recently, Dat Bike’s Quantum electric motorbike, launched late last year, is still attracting a lot of attention and discussion from users.

This is the first scooter model from this technology start-up after 3 classic and rather picky Dat Bike car lines. Previously, with the Weaver model, Dat Bike had made a strong impression despite being mercilessly criticized on Shark Tank Vietnam 2019 (The Billion Dollar Deal) and also managed to establish a community of loyal fans to the brand.

Perhaps with the entry to the “national” market with the mass-market vehicle, founder Son Nguyen surprised the car community and stirred up a lot of discussions. Since its launch, besides many opinions supporting Vietnamese-made car technology, excited about the improvements that are considered to be more powerful and more convenient than previous generations of Quantum, some people are still not really convinced with this new car line.

Not a few criticisms

On a topic reviewing Dat Bike’s new Quantum scooter line, there are many mixed opinions about the Quantum regarding the design model, which is rough and not eye-catching. In fact, some opinions bluntly said that they would not buy the vehicle because it was ugly.

Some opinions are concerned about the noisy chain and the high cost compared to the initial investment in a gasoline-powered vehicle.

Previously, at the time when the Quantum motorbike was first launched, many users expressed their disappointment with Dat Bike’s sales policy of having to wait a long time to get the vehicle and the inconsistent information. However, in the later stages, the situation has improved as there are almost no comments on this issue.

Objectively, the need for aesthetics varies from person to person. Ugly and beautiful are both adjectives that are subjective to each person. As for some errors in products and services, Dat Bike needs to be frank in order to improve.

There are also many compliments

On the contrary, there are many comments that defend this new scooter line from Dat Bike. Many positive reviews from users after using Quantum for a period of time have been recorded, such as strong driving, with an output of 250km/1 charge if driving at a speed of 30-50km/h, Mic engine, large trunk, and safe battery with a battery warranty of up to 10 years.

Especially, the price of 50 million including battery and VAT is considered quite a bargain compared to other vehicles in the same segment or higher segment.

Some viewpoints are more neutral, considering the usage, operation, and feelings of each person.

The Brand’s Response

As for the brand, despite receiving mixed opinions, Dat Bike stays calm and proves itself through actions. This is also what was seen from the brand when launching previous car lines.

To prove that the durable battery has always been a strong point of Dat Bike vehicles, the company offers a 10-year battery warranty for those who pre-order the Quantum. And this special warranty program is being applied by the company to preserve and transfer deposits with full benefits until April 20, 2024. The offer is for customers who contact the hotline, fanpage, or visit the official store in Hanoi, Da Nang, or Ho Chi Minh City.

The 0% interest installment purchase program until April 30 launched by the company is also beneficial for customers who are interested in the product but are still concerned about the cost.

Regarding the concern about distant and time-consuming after-sales warranty, in early April, Dat Bike cooperated strategically with Sang Trong motorbike distributor in the South for test driving, purchasing vehicles, as well as after-sales services such as repair and warranty for users.

Along with that is a series of posts announcing regular product and service updates on the Dat Bikers community group from the brand and the CEO’s personal account for users to grasp information promptly.

Dat Bike is showing its willingness to listen and its ability to respond quickly to user feedback.

Previously, CEO Son Nguyen also directly conducted Q&A on the Dat Bikers community group, helping to resolve all questions as well as listen to user feedback on products, services, and share Dat Bike’s future plans.

This is a commendable spirit of progress for a CEO as well as a Vietnamese start-up company, with close attention to its products and consumers.
