In line with the Government’s goal of “ZERO Road Traffic Fatalities” by 2045 and Honda’s global target of “ZERO Traffic Collision Fatalities Involving Honda Motorcycles and Automobiles” by 2050, Honda Vietnam Company (HVN) has decided to donate helmets to first-graders nationwide during the 2023-2024 school year.
This meaningful program stems from the recognition of the crucial role of wearing standard helmets in protecting road users. Particularly for first-graders – an important age for forming cognitive perceptions – it is essential to instill in them the habit of always wearing a standard helmet when riding on the back of a motorbike.
The program aims to:
– Establish the habit of wearing helmets among motorbike users in Vietnam, thereby increasing the rate of wearing helmets that meet the National Technical Regulation to 100%
– Provide road safety training for students and parents to raise awareness of road safety through communication activities

Since the program was launched in September 2023, the parties involved have actively coordinated to implement over 800 events to distribute helmets and provide road safety knowledge training for students and parents nationwide. As a result, 1.8 million standard helmets were given to first-graders across the country. Notably, more than 2 million students and over 200,000 parents received valuable knowledge to enhance their understanding and skills for safe road participation.

In particular, according to a survey conducted at 700 schools representing all levels of education, from primary to high school, nationwide, the rate of helmet use among students has reached 80%. This indicates that students have become aware of the necessity and importance of wearing helmets when participating in traffic. This will serve as a foundation for HVN to continue expanding the implementation of subsequent programs in the coming period, further increasing the rate of helmet use in traffic.

HVN believes that donating helmets to first-graders and providing road safety training for students and parents will contribute positively to enhancing the knowledge and skills for safe road participation among students and parents nationwide, moving towards a safe and civilized traffic environment in Vietnam.
