Mazda is set to unveil the final addition to its expanding SUV family, the CX-80. The model will serve as a stretched three-row version of the CX-60, and it has been designed primarily with the European and Japanese markets in mind. An official debut is scheduled for April 18, and the first examples should reach European showrooms this fall.
Unlike the Mazda CX-70, which is essentially a two-row CX-90 with minor styling tweaks, we can expect more significant visual differences between the CX-60 and CX-80. Most notably, the CX-80 will feature a longer, more upright rear end with a revised rear window design.
The teaser image provides a glimpse of the CX-80’s profile. A prominent chrome strip surrounding the rear side windows is a unique design element, and the gap between the rear door and the trunk has been extended. The rear window is less raked than on the CX-60, but the LED taillights appear to be identical.
Mazda has confirmed that the CX-80 will be both longer and taller than the CX-60, with an overall length approaching 5,000 mm (196.9 in), up from 4,745 mm (186.8 in) on the smaller model. The CX-80’s wheelbase will stretch to more than 3,000 mm (118.1 in), a significant increase over the CX-60’s 2,870 mm (113 in). However, it will likely fall short of the 3,119 mm (122.8 in) wheelbase found on the CX-70 and the North American CX-90.

Inside, the Mazda CX-80 will feature three rows of seats. Depending on the variant, it will accommodate either six or seven passengers, with the option of two individual seats and a center console for the second row. In all cases, the two seats in the third row can be folded flat to free up more cargo space.

Powertrain options are likely to be shared with the CX-60. The global debut will take place on April 18, and sales are scheduled to commence in May at dealerships across Europe.
