The campaign will be officially implemented by Toyota Vietnam from March 22, 2024 at all Toyota Dealers and Lexus Dealers nationwide. The list and number of vehicles in Vietnam affected are as follows:
The transmission assembly on the affected vehicles uses a clutch piston to press the clutch friction plates against the steel plates to transmit power from the engine to the wheels. When the transmission is shifted to the N position and pressure is released from the clutch piston, it is possible that the clutch friction plates may not disengage from the steel plates immediately, causing a portion of the engine power to continue to be transmitted to the wheels.
If this condition occurs when the vehicle is on a flat surface and if the driver does not depress the brake pedal or use the parking brake, the vehicle may move forward at a low speed (up to 6.4 km/h), which could increase the risk of an accident.
Customers with vehicles subject to the recall will receive a notice from Toyota Dealers and Lexus Dealers inviting them to bring their vehicles in for inspection. Based on the inspection results, the customer’s vehicle will have its transmission control software updated. The inspection and repair/update is expected to take approximately 0.5 hours per vehicle.
Toyota Vietnam recommends that customers who own vehicles subject to this campaign promptly bring their vehicles to Toyota Dealers and Lexus Dealers nationwide for a free inspection and update.
For non-genuine imported Toyota/Lexus vehicles subject to this campaign, Toyota Vietnam will check the detailed information upon request from the vehicle owner. Once the issue has been confirmed and approved, Toyota Dealers and Lexus Dealers will conduct a free inspection and update for the customer.
