In March 2024, the Vietnamese automotive market showed signs of recovery. Specifically, according to VAMA’s report, in March 2024, the total market sales reached 27,289 vehicles, an increase of 135% compared to February 2024. Meanwhile, according to Thanh Cong Group (TC GROUP)’s report, Hyundai’s total vehicle sales in March reached 4,542 vehicles, a 2.23-fold increase compared to February.
Almost all vehicle segments improved their sales. The C-crossover segment in particular had an impressive growth rate in March 2024.
The number 1 position continues to belong to Mazda CX-5. At the end of March 2024, the number of Mazda CX-5 sold reached 912, a 52% increase compared to February 2024. After the first 3 months of 2024, Mazda CX-5’s sales reached 2,319 vehicles, still maintaining the leading position in the segment.
One of the factors that makes the Mazda CX-5 so attractive is arguably its attractive listed price, leading the C-crossover segment in Vietnam. This April 2024, THACO also continued to implement a discount program of up to 20 million VND for the CX-5, bringing the starting price of this model down to just 749 million VND.
The second position belongs to the Honda CR-V with 649 vehicles sold in March 2024, a strong increase of 303% compared to February. This is the car model with the highest growth rate in the segment over the past month.
The Honda CR-V is currently the car model with the highest price in the segment, but it is still favored by Vietnamese users thanks to its prestigious brand, sportier design, impressive driving ability, and more modern amenities and safety.
The third position belongs to the Ford Territory, with sales of 602 vehicles, a strong growth of over 173%. In April 2024, the Ford Territory will also be offered by Ford Vietnam at a preferential price of 799 – 929 million VND, a reduction of 20-25 million VND. Ford Territory owns highlights such as a modern design, bold American flair, a spacious interior, and a variety of amenities and safety features.
With 294 vehicles sold in March 2024, an increase of more than 151% compared to the previous month, Hyundai Tucson holds the 4th position in the segment. Not out of the price reduction race, in April 2024, Hyundai announced a reduction in the listed price to 769 – 919 million VND, equivalent to a reduction of 30-50 million VND.
The 5th position belongs to the Kia Sportage, with March 2024 sales reaching 153 vehicles, an increase of more than 112% compared to February 2024. In April 2024, the Kia Sportage enjoyed the highest special discount of up to 30 million VND for the 2.0G Premium version. The remaining gasoline engine versions have all been adjusted down by 20 million VND. After the discount, the Kia Sportage has a starting price of 779 million VND.
