According to a survey conducted by Tri Thức – Znews, Volvo dealers in Ho Chi Minh City have started accepting deposits for the PHEV version of the S90 Recharge Ultimate after the Lunar New Year holiday. When contacting Volvo dealers, a sales consultant informed us that the Swedish automaker’s plug-in hybrid sedan is expected to be launched in the second quarter of this year.

According to the sales staff, compared to its mid-hybrid predecessor, the PHEV version has a design and interior similar to the current S90 Ultimate. However, the front left wheel is equipped with an additional charging port system like the XC60 Recharge or the XC90 Recharge.

The Volvo S90 Recharge Ultimate is also equipped with a new 19-inch alloy wheel, which is making its debut in the Vietnamese market. In addition, details such as the LED headlights with Active High Beam technology that automatically change the beam angle, the Thor’s hammer-shaped daylight running lights, and the “Recharge” logo are still featured, similar to the automaker’s other plug-in hybrid models.

Earlier, according to information posted on the website of the Vietnam Register, the Volvo S90 Recharge Ultimate has a fuel consumption of only about 1.6 L/100 km, lower than the average fuel consumption of a motorbike. According to the sales consultant, the new sedan will be equipped with a PHEV powertrain combining a gasoline engine and an electric motor, producing 462 horsepower.

Although the car has not yet been officially launched, dealers have started accepting deposits and expect to deliver the cars in the second or third quarter of this year. The sales consultant revealed that the listed price of this luxury D-segment sedan will be similar to that of the XC60 Recharge Ultimate, around 2.89 billion VND.

Thus, if the listed price is only around 2.89 billion VND, the Volvo S90 Recharge Ultimate will compete with rivals in the same segment such as the BMW 530i M-Sport (2.889 billion VND), the Audi A6 (2.42 billion VND), or the Mercedes-Benz E300 AMG (from 3.209 billion VND).
