2024 Ford Explorer EV Priced From $50,300, Range Up To 374 Miles
The all-electric Ford Explorer has officially gone on sale in Europe, with prices starting from under £40,000 - undercutting rivals such as the VW ID.4 and Tesla Model Y.
The base Ford Explorer begins at £39,875 ($50,300), and for that price, European customers get a single electric motor with 168 horsepower, a smallish 52-kWh battery pack, and a range of 230 miles.
The Tesla Model Y, meanwhile, starts at £44,990, but it’s much quicker to 60 mph at 6.6 seconds than the Ford and has an even better range of 283 miles.
For not much more than the base Model Y, the Ford Explorer Extended Range gets you both more power and more range per charge. With a 282-hp electric motor and a 77-kWh battery pack, the Extended Range does 0-60 in 6.4 seconds and has a range of up to 374 miles.
And if that’s still not enough, there’s the Extended Range AWD, which uses a newer battery technology. The dual-motor powertrain is good for 335 hp, dropping the 0-60 time to 5.3 seconds. However, the extra weight of the AWD system drops the range to 330 miles. Ford hasn’t yet announced pricing for the dual-motor Explorer.
