B-SUV Sales Rankings for March 2024 (in units)

Mitsubishi Xforce: 1,334 Units

The Mitsubishi Xforce has made an impressive debut, achieving sales of 1,334 units in its first month on the market. With this result, the new Mitsubishi model has climbed to the top of the B-SUV segment. If it can maintain this sales momentum, the Xforce could become a pillar of Mitsubishi’s sales figures in Vietnam, alongside its sibling, the Xpander.

Mitsubishi Xforce

The success of the Mitsubishi Xforce can be attributed in part to its attractive price, which ranges from 599 to 680 million Vietnamese dong for the GLX, Exceed, and Premium variants. The top-of-the-line Ultimate variant is not yet priced.

In addition to its affordable price, the Mitsubishi Xforce also boasts a striking exterior design and a wide range of convenience and safety features. Notable features include LED lighting on the exterior, automatic wipers, 18-inch alloy wheels, power liftgate, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, an 8-speaker Yamaha Premium Dynamic Sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, a nanoeX air purification system, wireless phone charging, USB Type A/Type C charging ports, and ambient interior lighting.

Under the hood of the Mitsubishi Xforce is a 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine shared with the Xpander, producing a maximum output of 105 horsepower and a peak torque of 141 Nm. The engine is paired with a CVT and a front-wheel-drive system. The vehicle offers four drive modes, including Normal, Gravel, Mud, and Snow, on higher-end variants.

Honda HR-V: 759 Units

The success of the Mitsubishi Xforce has pushed the Honda HR-V down to second place in the B-SUV segment. In March 2024, Vietnamese consumers purchased 759 units of the HR-V, representing a 169.1% growth. This result brings the cumulative sales of the Honda HR-V to 1,842 units in the first three months of 2024, the highest in the segment.

Honda HR-V

Similar to March 2024, the Honda HR-V continues to benefit from a 50% discount on excise tax this April, helping customers save between 35 and 52 million Vietnamese dong when registering their vehicles, depending on the variant. This official promotion is expected to further boost the appeal of this Japanese model.

Since the beginning of 2024, the Honda HR-V has consistently impressed with its relatively high sales figures in the segment, a stark contrast to its performance in 2023. This is somewhat surprising as the Honda HR-V has a relatively high price tag in the segment, ranging from 699 to 871 million Vietnamese dong for the three variants.

However, the Honda model scores points with its youthful, eye-catching exterior design, a spacious interior, sufficient convenience features, and a suite of standard ADAS safety features. Additionally, the engine and driving experience are also highly praised by many.

The Honda HR-V in Vietnam is currently available with two engine options. The base variant uses a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated inline-4 gasoline engine with a maximum output of 119 horsepower and a peak torque of 145 Nm.
